Manager Review

Northland Vacation Rentals

Northland Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.80 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

My family had an absolutely gorgeous week at this beautiful property on the beach. We had six adults and two children, and all fit comfortably. You simply can't beat the view or the beach -- we spent hours on the beach and sitting on the deck taking in the sunset. Just beautiful.

Our family loved our stay here. Plenty of space for both families and kids. The views were so beautiful. And the little ones loved playing on the small private beach every morning. The tree house and kayaks were a big hit too.

Great location for a long weekend in TVC, especially if downtown will be the anchor of the trip. 7 min walk to heart of front street, right next to two great local eateries (Rare Bird & Archie’s) and easy access to the peninsula. Would recommend as a home base anytime!

Rural, private setting. Three generations stayed together here, plenty of room, games for all ages.

This older home is in an amazing location. The deck and surrounding gardens and peaceful woods were beautiful. We enjoyed a new Blackstone, fire pit with Adirondacks and a spacious driveway for our cars. Negatives for us were cluttered and disorganized kitchen and living room, unnecessary furniture and lacking hooks and towel bars. The bathroom in the apartment space only had a tub without curtain in the bedroom so no one would use that. We were a large party of 13 guests for a family reunion so these issues stood out a little more probably.

This house is spacious and well-equipped, especially the kitchen and bed/bath linens, and with a bonus of some toys for small kids. Some conflicting information about amenities (there was a pack n play type crib available although when we asked to confirm crib availability, we were directed to a concierge company charging a steep delivery fee to bring a crib to the house. Went through the effort to find one to borrow, and ultimately didn’t need it). Overall it’s a good place - expensive yes, but in a convenient location and well-equipped for families.

Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience. Upon arrival we noticed a musty smell coming from the lower level. Because our children and grandchildren weren’t arriving until Monday, we closed the door to that level. After my daughter spent Monday night she experienced a migraine headache. I suspected mold (ceiling tiles had damp stain from water). I communicated to the property manager my concern because now all eight of us had to share the upstairs and one bath. The next day the property owner came by with a man who tested for mold. We were told we would have the results 2 days later. Now, 5 days after check out, I am still awaiting the results, despite several requests. I can only assume the test was positive. Others in our family also experienced symptoms commonly associated with mold. Besides mold, the kitchen was infested with large black ants and had a number of dirty pans under the sink. The outdoor deck was partially rotten and lacked safety rails. Airbnb gave a small refund.

We loved our stay in Empire! The town was so quaint and perfect for our young family. The house was very old but full of nice details and felt a part of the town. It was very charming! We were there during a heatwave and the house didn’t circulate air very well and was very stuffy in a few of the rooms. Even though fans were provided it was very warm for a few nights. Other than that our trip was wonderful!

This house is tired and beat up. The location on the water is lovely but the facility lower level is dank and damp. There are a few individual air conditioners but the screens are dirty and the house in general needs a good clean up. The deck is old, needs to be power washed and there’s no yard to speak of for children to move about. I wouldn’t t go back or recommend it.

Stayed here with two families and four kids. The primary concern was mold and humidity within the property. The dehumidifier needed emptying every few hours, and for the first two days there was no improvement in the smell or overall conditions. Additional issues: the fireplace did not work, an outlet needed for a baby monitor was non functional, live mouse trap under bed, and the swing was disassembled in the driveway. The property manager Nicole was responsive and did offer alternative properties when we raised concerns, but none were actually viable. Every option was smaller than our unit (three bed one bath vs our four bed two bath) and none of them allowed pets. Worth noting: Nicole acknowledged awareness of raccoon traps with bait cans sitting unsecured near the garage, with no timeline for removal. Flagging this especially for families traveling with kids or pets. The experience fell short of what was advertised and what we paid for. Ask detailed questions before booking.
