Melon Stay
4.72Visit website
Melon Stay's guest rating of 4.72 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“I rarely leave negative reviews, but future guests should know what we experienced. We reported multiple maintenance and safety issues immediately after check-in and were repeatedly promised maintenance would come during our 8-day stay. They never did. The owner stopped by once without notice, looked at the issues, and fixed nothing. The upstairs toilet was loose with no bolts securing it to the floor. We reported and demonstrated this on day one. Later, water leaked through the ceiling below and dripped onto a guest. Several downstairs windows also had broken locks and could not be secured. There was excessive visible mold, and multiple people experienced allergy/asthma symptoms. A faulty bedroom doorknob trapped a guest inside twice. Problems can happen, but repeatedly promising repairs that never happen is unacceptable. From recent reviews the owners are well aware of these maintenance issues and unwilling to resolve anything.”airbnb

“Let me start by saying the house itself is very nice and beautiful. If you are not specifically looking for a hot tub or crib, it could be a great place to stay. When searching Airbnb properties, I filtered for a hot tub and a crib. I found this house and didn’t see either pictured, so I messaged the host before booking to confirm these amenities were available. I was told there was a private hot tub and a crib available. Prior to arrival, we learned that the “crib” was actually a pack and play. Upon arrival, we discovered that the “hot tub” referred to the master bathtub. Had we known this beforehand, we would not have booked this property. When I raised these concerns, the host acknowledged the confusion and stated they would make the amenities clearer for future guests, but no resolution was offered. Again, the home itself was beautiful. Just wasn’t what we wanted/needed for our trip. Also, the pillows were fabulous. I ordered some for my own home.”airbnb

“Was in town for a wedding and it was located conveniently nearby. The place was nice, clean, and comfortable. If you are sensitive to light, there are not heavy enough curtains to keep out the street lamp and sunshine from coming through so you will wake up early. Also the WiFi wasn’t working during my stay which was disappointing. I was asked to send a screenshot before they could help me but it was too late as I already had to leave for the day.”airbnb

“Good alternative to a local hotel. Pictures are deceiving as the apartment is not on the ground floor. It is otherwise as pictured. Parking is on the ground floor of the garage and additional parking on the street. In case you plan to cook, it is very sparsely stocked stocked kitchen. There were 4 wine glasses but to wine opener (we bought one and left it there). No scissors either. Check in can be challenging if you are not able to crouch down. The fob to open the front door is maybe a foot off the ground and hard to see at night. Someone who was luckily coming in let me in after several attempts to open it and stated many people have the same issue. Upstairs it was easier to retrieve the fob. They only gave us one which was meant if one of us left the other could not leave the apartment. If you are in town to visit La Verne or Claremont it is a very convenient location.”airbnb

“While the unit was exactly as pictured, the infestation of flying bugs inside the unit made it impossible to cook, eat, or feel comfortable. The unit is on the ground floor and the sheer curtain is less than ideal to obscure you from the outside or the outside from you. Upon check in I received a note stating the thermostat would not go below a certain level. As someone currently in medical menopause, this information would have been much more helpful beforehand as it would’ve changed my decision to proceed with the booking. I did appreciate the prompt responses, but the “solutions”; a can of bug spray and a box fan left outside the door vs someone coming to assess and resolve the situation weren’t solutions at all.”airbnb

“To be fair the place was very clean, the bathroom was nice, kitchen well-equipped and the furnishings new (a rug and a second armchair would have been welcome). What disappointed us is that when we booked the listing showed a space with a patio, and patio doors which seemed lovely and airy...but when we arrived there was no patio, no patio doors and just a window that couldn't be opened and was above head height (the apartment is technically ground floor but sunken so that drive way is overhead). This is one of those listings where the hosts clearly have more than one apartment in the property that makes it hard to know exactly what you're getting. Someone else complained about this in the comments (after we booked) and the owners say they've updated the site - though it still doesn't seem clear to me. Hosts responded by saying that there were lots of other outdoor patio areas, though those seemed to be in another building in the complex.”airbnb

“I wish I can write an honest 5 🌟 review but if I did then I wouldn’t be honest. Let me start off by saying that this place was clean and beautiful. Me and my family had plans to make dinner together with the kids, plans to have movie night etc…well the entire 5 days that I was there I could not use the internet at all! Absolutely nothing! No the internet was not down, the internet had all bars so it was 100% accessible but the WiFi password that I was given was incorrect. I messaged the host and sent a video and photos of me selecting the proper WiFi username and the password that they provided me and they blamed it on the internet company and told me that they would provide me a hotspot while they heard back from the internet provider. NOTHING was done regardless of what they said. None of my family was able to come for this reason. No internet, no movie night, no entertainment. No devices can be connected at all whatsoever. This was a waste of nearly $1000. Never again.”airbnb

“Overall, the complex was nice, and the room was clean and bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the high ceilings. But the room was very squeezed - the kitchen was located in a long, narrow, tight hallway. The table to eat at was at the foot of the bed. There were very limited dishes, forks, spoons. Also, the headboard of the bed was against the wall where cars entered the parking structure and went over a loud metal grate, making noise throughout the night. The blinds by the bed were very thin with a bright streetlight right outside the blinds, shining through and disturbing sleep. The communications felt impersonal and over-controlling, asking us to sign agreement to not have anyone visit, telling us not to stomp so we wouldn't disturb neighbors (even though we were on the first floor!), and repeated, long, huge instructions re. what to do, what not to do. It felt very institutionalized and insincere. We asked for a partial refund given the light and noise, but they said no.”airbnb

“I kind of regret booking this place. First of all, with all the reminders and instructions and more reminders not only through the messages but on the mirror of the bathroom, signs inside the bedroom, It felt overkill and making the guest feel burdened, stressed in trying to fulfill THEIR reminders constantly. I mean, as guests who PAID for thier stay, i think their peace of mind during the stay should be considered and respected more. Its obvious the 'business' mindset is the number one consideration instead of true care for the guests to have a pleasant stay. They were too consumed and insconsiderate with this part. And it was a challenge to get into the building. and we had a bad time getting access to the garage because there were no such instructions. we literally couldnt get into the garage. and the response was very slow. we had to wait a long time. overall bad experience”airbnb
