Manager Review

Mary's Stay

Mary's Stay's guest rating of 4.58 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

Overall, the apartment was fairly clean, but there were noticeable scuff marks on the walls and a chipped area in the bathtub. The space generally matched the photos, though it appeared more worn and lived-in than expected. Some areas around the doors and walls looked dirty, which took away from the overall presentation. The location was also disappointing. The area was noisy, parking was difficult, and there were people dealing drugs directly outside during the stay, which made the environment feel uncomfortable. The listing also advertised a patio and city views, but neither were available at the property.

First off I want to say it looks nice for what it is until you meet a clean freak like me and start see the little things. 1. Once you enter there are stairs NO elevators just stairs so if you have luggage good luck. Notice how that’s not put in the description, we watched a family with a baby go up crazy work. 2. When it came to cleanliness, there were no cleaning supplies to clean anything on top of that the bathroom floors were sticky, the blinds were so dusty and the towels had holes in them. 3. Some of the blinds in the rooms were missing, the internet was super slow which cause the TV to be slow. 4. The air would come on like once a day which was very annoying cause I would wake up sweating. Last but not least you will be required to take out the trash not that this is an issue but the directions on where to drop it off is not to clear. I was really hesitant on doing Airbnb again and now I see why. I will no longer be doing anymore Airbnbs. Hopefully this is helpful.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Upon check-in, the house was very dirty the more you started looking. The kitchen is disgusting, all utensils (even the pots and pans) have rust and stains on them, the bedrooms have a mold smell, all of the linen (bed & bathroom) had stains that needed to be cleaned, and there’s water damage throughout the house. All of these problems and they’re only across the street.. they didn’t even want to compensate me and my guests for a late checkout despite reporting these issues and gave us the runaround. Everyone was in perfect health until we left that AirBnb. When we left, everyone got badly sick, I even lost my voice and coughing stuff up. We asked for full compensation and they denied us! This home is unsafe. My pregnant sister was in there and they do not care!!! NEVER book here!!!! EVER!!!!!!

Cleanup hadn't been done before I arrived, which was frustrating but was dealt with quickly after I sent a message. The wifi wasn't connected when I arrived, and then when it was, it was slow enough that it made it hard for me to work. Checkin was okay, but I had to "hide" from the face recognition camera. The whole thing felt a little "off"

Proceed with caution! Private roof deck is not actually private - it is shared with the building. Pictures were taken years ago. The furniture, particularly the upholstery in the unit, was stained, worn, and was unsanitary, including stains that appeared to be bodily fluids. There was mold in the washer and shower. Host was terrible when these issues were raised. Did not substantively respond to messages, repeatedly did not address the sanitation issues, ignored concerns, and avoided speaking on the phone for almost 2 days. When I finally spoke to someone, after having to confirm the messages responses were not drafted by AI, the individual said he was a property manager, but refused to say if/when he had ever been to the unit and was unable to address issues. I had to involve AirBnB customer service because the host was so uncommunicative and did not resolve sanitation issues. Worst AirBnB experience I have had.

Property is presented in a deceiving and misleading fashion. The title AND sub title states “Capitol hill 1-BR with city view and patio”. There are a few inconsistencies with this claim… 1. The property is not located in Capitol hill. The property is located outside of Capitol Hill in a jurisdiction called Carvers-Landing. VERY stark contrast from Capitol Hill or any of its corresponding areas. 2. There is no patio. 3. There is no city view. The fact that the internals of the property are well kept and modernized… fail to hold any weight once you mislead your customer at the point of sale. This is not human error, this is a deliberate act of false advertisement.

Stairs were okay (my toddler loved the challenge) location was great, the place looked ok, however, minutes of us walking to the place, the bottoms of our socks got black. The floors were not cleaned. There was dust on the staircase. The glass table had smudges. In one room, there was a nest of ants so big, ants gotten into my mom bag.. you could tell no one cleanded it thorowly in a while. Additionally i had requested a high chair and a crib 3 times, but the host never provided it and never address it whather they are unable to provided it. One curly black pubic hair in a bathtub. Also all the sheets were polyester and some of the mattraces had plastic wrapper or something, and it made a noise. Mattresses were not comfortable, just seemed that they gottend all the cheapest supplies they could. The ironing board was tiny and cheap, i ruined my linen pants, as the plastic pattern got transfered onto the pants. View was nice. Access to the terrace was refreshing.

Very responsive and I appreciate it. Other than the ants I just wanted to note the couch was not clean nor the chair, there was only one wash cloth for 3 guest and the shade on the lamps should probably be replaced, all were broken. I’m not sure if there is a management property company but if so I would let them know to spray the front bed room bathroom kitchen area and living room especially by the couch for ants. The neighboorhood is near Howard and very sketchy. We checked out less than 24hrs

My stay at this Airbnb was unfortunately not a pleasant experience. The listing did not adequately prepare guests for the number of stairs required. There were four flights of stairs just to reach the apartment entrance, and once inside, there were two additional flights of stairs to access the bedrooms. This made moving luggage and getting around very inconvenient. Additionally, the temperature controls were restrictive and uncomfortable. The instructions stated the heat should remain at 70 degrees and not exceed 75, yet the temperature stayed between 74–76 degrees and felt excessively hot during the stay. I contacted the host for assistance, but the response was not helpful and the issue was never resolved. Overall, the layout and temperature issues significantly impacted the comfort of the stay, and better communication and clearer listing details would have improved the experience.
