Landmark Vacation Rentals NC's guest rating of 4.68 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“The location of this house is perfect. Easy to get to restaurants and shopping. Direct beach access is great. The house needs a bit of TLC and the driveway is very steep. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.”airbnb

“The location is the biggest selling point of this house. It’s within walking distance of great restaurants, ice cream shops, and the beautiful beach. We loved walking the beach to dinner, and since we spent most of our time outside, the location made up for some shortcomings. Unfortunately, the house could have been much cleaner (including mold on shower curtains), one shower did not drain and filled with gunk, the furnishings were older than pictured, and all beds except the master were uncomfortable. The dryer didn’t work during our week-long stay, and no effort was made to repair it, not being able to do laundry was a significant inconvenience for our large group. The kitchen was poorly stocked with mismatched dishes and no wine glasses. The fridge water filter needed replacing, so we bought bottled water all week, and the hot water ran out quickly, making it difficult for everyone to shower. Long checkout chore list also seemed unreasonable given the unresolved maintenance issue.”airbnb

“The Whale House was a wonderful place for our family vacation! The house was very clean, spacious, and everyone absolutely loved the space. The location was perfect — just a short walk to the beach, bars, and nearby attractions. We had 11 guests (2 of them being kids), and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. One of our favorite features was the rooftop deck, which offered beautiful views of the surroundings along with a relaxing ocean breeze and views of the waves. The only minor downside was parking. The property allows parking for two cars, and additional parking costs $25 from 9 AM–7 PM, so just plan accordingly if you’re traveling with multiple vehicles. I’d also recommend bringing a few extra towels and toiletries (detergent, towels, paper towels, etc.) if you have a large group. Other than that, everything was great, and we had an amazing stay!”airbnb

“I want to start by saying that the property management was very responsive. I did learn that they have 80+ properties and only had two employees working during the week that we were on the island. Also, I realize that Airbnb includes reviews of a host for all of their properties and not specifically the property you are reviewing right now when you see this review. The issues we had were that we paid $300 extra to have pool heater on and paid that the day after we booked, which was 7 months in advance, the day before we were to check in. They said it was broken. That should’ve been checked before. The circuit breaker kept tripping and turning off AC on the floor most of the bedrooms were located and no one could find the issue. Finally found resolution, then it happened again as we were leaving. Be aware of that. Finally, this is a coastal town, but there were bugs underneath the mattress of one room and the theater room chairs-half were broken. Would not stay at this house again”airbnb

“The location of this house is great and the home is beautiful but for the price, the amenities were lacking. Most Airbnb homes we’ve stayed in are better equipped with paper products and toiletries as well as lovely welcome packages of baked goods, coffees, etc. Also the bed linens were well worn and subpar, not what you would expect to find in such a nice home. Our family did have a great time and the location on the channel provided beautiful scenery and opportunities for water activities, which we enjoyed.”airbnb

“Overall, a very good place. My only complaint is that the elevator was not allowed for use by renters. There are three staircases up to the top floor. This made it very difficult to carry luggage up and groceries. Especially since I had just undergone foot surgery.”airbnb

“The view is definitely incredible but for the price and not having some essentials like toilet paper, soap, etc. along with check in and out times basically taking off two days. Everything was a little dirty, the beds were uncomfortable and the showers barely worked. This didn’t ruin our trip but for the price I expected it to be a bit nicer.”airbnb
