Landmark Vacation Rentals NC's guest rating of 4.68 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Great location and very clean overall! The pool and hot tub were spotless, the area was peaceful, and the beach was just a 2-3 minute walk away — perfect for our stay. Two things to note for future guests: if you're definitely planning to rely on the elevator, it could possibly be an issue — it can be finicky. If the door doesn't close all the way, it stops working and needs a reset, which unfortunately comes with a fee. This happened to us multiple times during our stay. Also, the only ironing board available was a small one, not really practical for adult-sized clothing, so a full-size one would be a nice addition. Overall we still enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again, just wanted future guests to be aware of these small hiccups.”airbnb

“Coastal Dharma was nicely designed well kept. The finishings in the house are high quality and our stay was very comfortable. We were able to enjoy family meals together at the dining table and kitchen counters, and the extras like a ping pong table were really great for entertaining kids in between time on the beach.”airbnb

“It was a great house. Very comfortable. Had two main living rooms with the kitchen in the middle, which was great for adults on one side and kids on the other. The beach was awesome and very close to the water. Very quiet neighborhood. Highly recommend the house.!!!”airbnb

“The location is excellent. Can’t go wrong with steps to the beach and only a few minutes drive to stores. That’s where the good stuff ends. This host was atrocious. We had issues from not having correct entry code, to dirty house, doors that didn’t work, maintenance people showing up at random times without us knowing. When we messaged them that got back fairly quickly however they were not helpful at all. They kept sending screenshots from their “guidebook” which was not available to us until we already booked. Their responses were basically figure it out yourself because we are not responsible. Be very very cautious when you rent this place. You will have to bring just about every and hope people left behind something you might have forgotten and if you are not satisfied the host will not care. If there is soap when you get there that’s because we left it for you. You are welcome.”airbnb

“The price you pay for this house is 100% for the view. Right on the beach can't be beat. It is tricky to get a house on Airbnb and still go through a rental company. We have done this a handful of times, so we are used to bringing our own toilet paper, paper towels, and other necessities. It's not like a normal Airbnb; a starter pack with a single roll of toilet paper and a small roll of paper towels won't be enough, especially with 7 bathrooms. I will say of all the places we have rented, this one by far had the worst linens. I've heard people complain about sleeping on sandpaper and have never realized it until now. My suggestion is that if you are staying longer than 3 nights, bring your own sheets and towels. The stuff provided by the linen company is awful. But that certainly doesn't outweigh the beachfront's greatness. Overall, we had a great stay and wonderful weather. I'd rent again, but as I said, bring my own linens. Happy beaching.”airbnb

“The location is the biggest selling point of this house. It’s within walking distance of great restaurants, ice cream shops, and the beautiful beach. We loved walking the beach to dinner, and since we spent most of our time outside, the location made up for some shortcomings. Unfortunately, the house could have been much cleaner (including mold on shower curtains), one shower did not drain and filled with gunk, the furnishings were older than pictured, and all beds except the master were uncomfortable. The dryer didn’t work during our week-long stay, and no effort was made to repair it, not being able to do laundry was a significant inconvenience for our large group. The kitchen was poorly stocked with mismatched dishes and no wine glasses. The fridge water filter needed replacing, so we bought bottled water all week, and the hot water ran out quickly, making it difficult for everyone to shower. Long checkout chore list also seemed unreasonable given the unresolved maintenance issue.”airbnb

“I want to start by saying that the property management was very responsive. I did learn that they have 80+ properties and only had two employees working during the week that we were on the island. Also, I realize that Airbnb includes reviews of a host for all of their properties and not specifically the property you are reviewing right now when you see this review. The issues we had were that we paid $300 extra to have pool heater on and paid that the day after we booked, which was 7 months in advance, the day before we were to check in. They said it was broken. That should’ve been checked before. The circuit breaker kept tripping and turning off AC on the floor most of the bedrooms were located and no one could find the issue. Finally found resolution, then it happened again as we were leaving. Be aware of that. Finally, this is a coastal town, but there were bugs underneath the mattress of one room and the theater room chairs-half were broken. Would not stay at this house again”airbnb

“The location of this house is great and the home is beautiful but for the price, the amenities were lacking. Most Airbnb homes we’ve stayed in are better equipped with paper products and toiletries as well as lovely welcome packages of baked goods, coffees, etc. Also the bed linens were well worn and subpar, not what you would expect to find in such a nice home. Our family did have a great time and the location on the channel provided beautiful scenery and opportunities for water activities, which we enjoyed.”airbnb

“Overall, a very good place. My only complaint is that the elevator was not allowed for use by renters. There are three staircases up to the top floor. This made it very difficult to carry luggage up and groceries. Especially since I had just undergone foot surgery.”airbnb

“The view is definitely incredible but for the price and not having some essentials like toilet paper, soap, etc. along with check in and out times basically taking off two days. Everything was a little dirty, the beds were uncomfortable and the showers barely worked. This didn’t ruin our trip but for the price I expected it to be a bit nicer.”airbnb
