“Felt a bit expensive for the size and quality.”

“The resort grounds are located in beautiful Ponderosa Pines close to Keystone and just a block from a very nice restaurant. Some of the newer and larger cabins look very nice. This cabin is an older, rustic, pet friendly cabin. The bathroom area and walls showed considerable wear and tear with some hairline cracks in the sink and some dings and paint chips in the drywall. This unit has a fridge and microwave, but no kitchen area. I enjoyed the loft, but the stairs are steep — great for kids but not so much for older adults.”

“Close to Mount Rushmore and Crazyhorse. The Steam train ride was very nice.”

“Our stay at Holy Smoke was fine. It was a cute cabin, but we found it not very comfortable in terms of the furnishings. If you are only staying overnight or 2 nights this place is perfect, but we were here for 4 nights. There are not any couches or reclining chairs to kick back on and relax after being out all day exploring the beautiful surroundings. There also is a fridge and a microwave but no real way to cook anything else. Even having a toaster or an air fryer would have been nice. The area is perfect though; so close to pretty much everything that we wanted to do. Both Keystone and Hill City were super cute quaint towns that were so walkable once you got there. There is also a Taproom that we discovered that had live music on 2 nights that we were there. Overall, a nice place but feel maybe for shorter stays!”

“Just a basic basic cabin. Not worth the money. Go to a Motel 6. A cabin should have some kitchen supplies. Bowls, plates, silverware…..nothing. A microwave big enough to fit a coffee cup. Terrible internet service. TV rarely got reception. 4 towels for the cabin. No where to put supplies…..table, dresser, nothing. Would not recommend to others. Many places to go for more for your money.”

“Clean resort, clean cabin. But smaller than I expected. That’s on me. Listing photo showed a microwave and refrigerator, so I thought there was a kitchenette. Nope. Again, that’s on me. Inside is not big. Only a high top table and 2 chairs but the loft duplex we were in sleeps 5. Not enough indoor seating for 5 unless you sit on the bed downstairs. We don’t normally spend a whole lot of daytime in our rentals, but when you come in for the evening, being able to sit is a must. Patio furniture is on the deck outside, which is great during warm weather, but it gets chilly in the evening in September! Our neighbors dragged their chairs indoors. Smart neighbors! The facility is well kept, close to Keystone and Mt. Rushmore/Custer State Park.”

“Accommodations as described. Very clean room. Quiet surroundings. Short drive to many activities. We arrived late, in the dark. An online map would have been helpful as it was difficult to locate our cabin.”

“Beds were uncomfortable, deck needed some lawn chairs not just a picnic table and a bbq on deck would have been convenience since no cooking facilities inside cabin. Like the larger fridge. Wish there was a community hottub.”

“Fun to be at. Ice cube tray bad would have liked some paper towels or Kleenex Picnic table lacking. Air conditioner great, coffee great beds very comfortable. Thanks”
