Hawaii Vacation Condos by Outrigger

Hawaii Vacation Condos by Outrigger's guest rating of 4.64 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

We had a horrible experience with Hawaii Vacation Condos by Outrigger. We arrived at night and the 2 bedroom condo was nothing like the one in the photos on AirBnB. It smelled musty and one of the beds had a strong urine smell so we could not use and our teenage son had to sleep in our bed with us. The entire unit was run down and dirty. We left the next morning and had to scramble to find a new place, and they tried to charge us for cleaning fees of the disgusting condo. Eventually they did not charge us for the cleaning fee and said the unit owner would not do anything about the cost of the disgusting unit. If that is the case then neither outrigger or Airbnb should be representing this unit. We’ve stayed at plantation before and love the area but will never book a unit managed by Outrigger again.

Condo is in a great location. Check in was easy and it’s a nice overall apartment with balcony. You can use the pool and amenities at the Outrigger Reef hotel which is good. They provide new beach towels that you can get for free everyday which is great. But we had some issues. The bathroom was very old and had no basic amenities like a shower door etc and didn’t match the photos at all. We got assigned apartment on 2nd floor which had no view at all and overlooked a Parking lot. The second bedroom has no AC, so we had to leave the door and window open to get AC from living room. And on check out day, a lady cam early morning and started aggressively banging in our door when we were asleep just to remind us check out time is at 11am….

Our stay was very disappointing despite great stays at other Outrigger properties. We booked the unit specifically for a ground-level. It notes unit would be ‘similar’ to photos. After booking, we learned this did not mean our unit would actually be ground level. I called & explained stairs weren’t an option for medical reasons, but told a request could be noted but not be guaranteed until arrival. We also booked an ocean-view unit. Unit was in the middle/back of property w/ a ‘peek’ of the ocean, as the actual ocean view units blocked the ocean. The biggest issue was the pests. Numerous wasps on our lanai made it unsafe to enjoy. They came w/ a can of wasp spray. I contacted front desk again the next day & explained the amount of wasps was unacceptable as my son is allergic & at risk for anaphylaxis. I was told I would be contacted and no one ever followed up. Inside the condo, I also photographed termites, drain flies, beetles, red ants & spiders. Wasp hives all throughout property

This was our first trip to Maui, and while we had a great vacation overall, our experience with this rental was mixed. The location was beautiful and convenient, but we felt the property was overpriced for what was provided. The internet was extremely slow and unreliable throughout our stay, making it difficult to use. For a 10-day stay, the supplies provided were insufficient. There wasn't enough shampoo or conditioner, and when we requested additional trash bags and toilet paper, we never received a response. We've stayed at several vacation rentals in Hawaii, and many provided thoughtful extras such as cooking oil, ample coffee, and better-stocked kitchen essentials. This property lacked many of those conveniences. Overall, the location was great, but the limited supplies, poor communication, unreliable internet, and overall value for the price left us disappointed.

Pros - Great Location Cons - The inside of this condo is in serious need of maintenance, entry door has a lot of splinters on it, kitchen missing screen, very old uncomfortable furniture, poor lighting, lamp in living room was dirty and appeared to have roach droppings on it, metal dinning room chairs are rusty and uncomfortable, no beach chairs, walls needs repaired walking up stairs to second floor with exposed paint coming off, guest toilet small and low (better to get larger toilet for adults), the kitchen was not fully stocked, had to make salad every day out of a pasta pot, no Tupperware, no salt and pepper, one of the blinds broken in dinning room. After a couple of days we went to the property management and mentioned all the above things to and she told us that it's the owners responsibility to fix those things. We didn't feel heard, no immediate solutions were offered, until we took it up with Airbnb to get a partial refund, fixed blind, got salt and pepper and Tupperware.

Overall, my family and l enjoyed our stay. However, I am very not pleased with airbnb not communicating well with the condo about our arrival. I believe since l booked through airbnb, airbnb should have totally been responsible for insuring that my communication with airbnb was passed on to Outriggers Condos!! As a result, I do not think l will be using this service again…

Great place to stay on the north west side, lots to walk to nearby. Place was described well and pictures matched the condo. Had issues with keypad multiple times, took them 3 trips to listen to our issue, which was frustrating, but they finally replaced the batteries in the entry handle and that fixed our issue of getting locked out.

Kiahuna Plantation is an excellent accommodation with the beach access, towel service, athletic club access. The unit was a bit outdated and could use some maintenance/updating. Carpet, countertops, and appliances should be replaced. My husband had to fix the beach umbrella, the rain umbrella and a couple of the coolers were broken and should just be thrown out.

Unit 318 is in disrepair. De laminating doors, rusty refrigerator, rusty plumbing fixtures, dirty. We suspect a mold issue in the bathroom, the smell was noticeable and unpleasant. We left a beach chair and umbrella for the next guests as none were provided. We had to use bug spray at night as the screens let mosquitoes inside the unit, no AC.

The room was beautiful and clean. The double bed bedroom did lack a bedside table for 2nd bed, which made charging phone and drink placement difficult. Biggest issue was the internet not working the entire visit. No one in my party was able to connect, and my sister had to leave us, to complete work, at local coffee shops (where they had wifi) most every morning. Spoke with main office and owners, but issue was never resolved. Otherwise, stunning location and resort
