Blue Creek Cabins

“We booked this cabin for fall break, largely because our boys LOVE fishing & the property advertised a private, stocked trout pond. Before arriving, we even shared our excitement about fishing & exploring the property with the hosts, who responded warmly. Unfortunately, they never mentioned that the pond had NO WATER OR TROUT. Imagine our disappointment upon arrival! When I reached out to express our concerns, communication was minimal & eventually stopped altogether. The cabin itself was nice, although the layout was unusual. I recommend bringing extra blankets if your family enjoys being cozy, as there were no additional linens beyond one tiny throw blanket. The location is great for visiting Helen! Overall, our biggest disappointment was the misleading advertisement & lack of communication. We specifically chose this property for an amenity that wasn’t available. If you’re booking for fishing, I strongly recommend confirming the pond actually has water and fish before your trip.”

“Place was lovely and comfortable. Really nice location and cool crow’s nest with beautiful views on top of the house. Only downside is that it smelled really strongly of mothballs.”

“Great house, exactly as described. Management fixed an issue with the coffee maker within a few hours which was much appreciated. Only issue was our initial entry, as it wasn’t communicated that there was a gate with a separate code, which was a pain to resolve with our late checkin (which we communicated ahead of time). Otherwise, great stay.”

“Overall our stay at Bear Crossing was nice. We had some issues that i'll mention that were frustrating, and we should have called the management company, but we didn't so that's on us. The washing machine knob was broken so we couldn't do laundry. There were dvd's, and after a thorough search we found the dvd player but we couldnt figure out how to hook it up to any of the tv's. In this case we did call the management company and they had no idea how to do it. There was only 1 kitchen towel, and only 1 extra role of toilet paper. There was no kleenex (although I don't know if that was supposed to be included). The masterbedroom bedside lamps were dirty and I found a womans fingernail on the floor. We also found childrens clothing in a draw in the basement bedroom that had been left behind. We left it out so hopefully the cleaning people will send those back to the previous tenants. Positive: great location to downtown, very secluded, nice home overall.”

“We stayed 4 nights at the Creekside cabin. Although there is another cabin very nearby, the area felt secluded and quiet. The interior is comfortable for 2 people but on the smaller side, and the furnishings are pretty standard. The best feature was the hot tub, which worked well and was very clean. You access the upstairs pool table room from an outside staircase, which was fine but could be inconvenient depending on the weather. The cabin is a short drive from Helen, GA. The main dislike was the loud window/wall AC units in each room. They ran almost constantly to maintain the temp on a relatively mild/rainy weekend. The dehumidifier running also needed frequent tank emptying. Quieter mini-splits would have made such a difference in the value of the stay. The shower water pressure was low. The oven did not work or was unable to be unlocked. We didn’t realize it during the stay, but afterward we could not recall any laundry room. Perhaps this was elsewhere on the property?”

“Pros: Beautiful home, spacious and clean. Kitchen well stocked. Host was responsive. Perfect location allowing privacy yet close convenience to town Cons: I messaged the host to ask if I could come by early to drop off perishables in the fridge approx 3 hours before check in. Despite reassuring them I only wanted use of the fridge to drop off food and then I would leave they refused this request. As a STR owner myself, this is a very easy request to honor yet they would not. At 3:30 I messaged the host asking for the key code, explaining I still had a 10-15 min drive to the property. Again they refused to provide any entrance codes or instructions, insisting on a 4pm arrival only. Overall the process was really frustrating traveling with 2 young children and requesting the bare minimum with flexibility. It felt like a very automated experience rather than dealing with individual hosts. Additionally the internet went out several times during our stay.”

“Our stay was extremely disappointing and nothing like the property portrayed in the photos on Airbnb. The pictures made the home appear clean, fresh, and almost brand new. What we actually found upon arrival was completely different. The house was disgustingly dirty. There were what appeared to be blood stains on the bed linens/covers, linens were obviously not fresh, heavy dust throughout the home, cockroaches, and a strong pet odor. They charged $150 pet fee. It is obvious the home is not disinfected after each guests pet. The outside of the house was also filthy and covered in cobwebs, giving the impression that the property had not been properly cleaned or maintained in quite some time. We chose this cabin based on the beautiful, pristine-looking photos that were advertised, and we felt completely misled by the difference between those images and the actual condition of the property. We left a day early due to the disappointing conditions.”

“It was a nice cabin not far from Helen, GA, comfortable and clean, nice deck with a hot tub, everything you need but just make sure you're dead set on your plans when booking because they will not compromise with any sort of rescheduling!”

“The resident was well suited for my family of 5. More than enough room and as advertised. However, the printed address in listed as 53 Elm Rd should have been 53 Elm Ridge Dr. We followed the listed address and ended up at a petting zoo 20 minutes away. This was a bit unnerving since cell coverage is spotty. We were able to self correct by clicking the link. Once we arrived the TV was on. This also gave us pause as if someone was in the unit. Lastly, I'd recommend the host leaving more soap. We requested more but we decided to buys some from the local Walmart. We tried the sauna in the basement but the couldn't get it to work. Pass that the resident suited our needs well.”

“One of the main reasons we booked this Airbnb was because the listing described it as being within walking distance, but we did not find that to be accurate. The walk was much longer than expected and did not feel safe, especially since the property is in a wooded area and has a lot of wildlife so be careful if you plan to walk at night. The home also had several maintenance and cleanliness issues. There was visible water damage, a strong urine odor in the bathroom, stains on the couch, and the house felt very humid. The dehumidifier was completely full when we arrived and the humidifier needed to be emptied. The listing also advertised bicycles, but they were very old and rusted. One had a flat tire, making them unusable during our visit. We politely asked the host if we could check out early due to these issues, but our request was denied, so we had to contact Airbnb Support for assistance. If the home is properly deep cleaned, then it would be a relaxing stay but plan on driving.”
