Big Bear Escapes

“We stayed less than 20 hours before we left. The breaker tripped 15+ times, repeatedly cutting power to the entire house. When we raised this legitimate fire and safety concern, the host was condescending and argumentative instead of apologetic. The listing advertises AC, but there are only 3 portable units for 4 bedrooms - none in the master, none in common areas, but running the AC units tripped the breaker. The host’s fix? “Just run one at a time.” If you want to pay premium prices for a house that can’t keep its own lights on, this is the place for you.”

“We had a wonderful stay! The cabin is the quintessential Big Bear cabin—cozy, charming, and exactly as pictured. The location is great: close enough to Big Bear Lake and the village for convenience, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. There was plenty of parking, and we made full use of the outdoor Blackstone griddle, which was a fun bonus. We’d happily stay here again.”

“Great location! Right across the street from the lake. Kayaks and bikes were such a nice bonus. The home has modern furnishings and was spotless. Would definitely stay again when we come to big bear.”

“If I could leave zero stars, I would. Doria was an extremely hostile host and claimed that our issues were lies due to our desire to cancel prior to our stay. She requested extra money that was not detailed on the listing and an incorrect location via message when requesting location info. This Airbnb is 17 mins away from big bear, she’ll lie and tell you it’s 5. There were bugs including one that fell out of the water dispenser which she stated we placed there. She ruined our first day there and threatened to report us even though we did absolutely nothing wrong. The main fan in the living room did not work after supposedly needing new batteries. We requested assistance after Doria threatened us and recieved none from Airbnb customer service. The spa did not heat until the morning of our stay and because she does not have it listed on her amenities she was able to get away with this. Please do not book her, read her other reviews. She is notorious for being hostile.”

“This was our second time staying here, and it was just as wonderful as the first. We loved it so much the first time that coming back was an easy choice and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The location is fantastic, especially being so close to the lake. It made it really easy to get out and enjoy the area, and having access to the bikes was such a fun bonus. It’s clear that Doria puts a lot of care into making sure everything is well-maintained and easy for guests. Check-in was smooth, communication was quick and helpful, and the overall experience felt seamless both times. We’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone considering booking.”
