“The company that the host uses to manage this property uses an automated AI chatbot that was only useful for insisting that I click a link to a third party site to sign additional disclaimer documents. The largest issue with this property is that the listing states AWD or 4WD is recommended in icy or snowy weather. This property is inaccessible without 4WD on a sunny day, thankfully our vehicle was capable. I could certainly see someone in a 2WD sedan totaling their vehicle attempting to access this property. This is a serious safety and liability issue that the host should change immediately before someone seriously harms themselves or others. The hot tub, prominently featured as the main attraction of this property, looked as if I would have contracted a brain eating amoeba if I stepped foot in it. Aside from those issues, this property and our stay were about as expected.”

“Hanky Panky was a log home suited for 2 people. Beautiful setting on the Little Pigeon River with birds, ducks, geese and even a blue heron to be watched daily. The king bed is very high and "short" folks will need to use the stepstool located in the laundry room. A very enjoyable stay!”

“Firefly Lookout photographs beautifully and the location is genuinely great — quiet, minutes from the park, and the hot tub was clean and in good working order. Self check-in was seamless. Some things to know. The cabin smelled strongly of mildew the moment we arrived. We left the doors and windows open for hours on day two with no improvement; on day three we took a flashlight to the mini split and found visible mold. The team responded quickly and offered air fresheners, which just masks the problem. The property is also more worn than the photos suggest: obvious insect damage to the beams holding the roof over the entry patio, a visibly settled deck under the hot tub, a very small shower, and essentially no window coverings, so privacy is limited. Neighbors are closer than the listing implies. The gravel road realistically wants clearance and 4wd. Good bones and a great spot. It needs maintenance attention before I'd recommend it.”

“Great views. Only problem was the air conditioning in the pool room was broken our entire stay although it was reported to maintenance on day of arrival. Home was clean and fit description given on air bnb listing.”

“The night before e were departing fromthe cabin, my husband noticed the filters inside the air conditioning system were CAKED full of black mold. He is a maintenance supervisor, so he notices that kind of stuff. He chose not to tell me because he knew I would freak out and he didn't want both of us to be worrying. However, I wish he had said something so I could take a picture to complain to the host and Airbnb. He let me know on our way home and I was upset we were breathing that in for five days. Although we had an excellent vacation, we will never stay at Bear Tootin again just because of this toxic and unsafe fact. From now on, we will be checking these things anytime we stay somewhere. Whoever is in charge of keeping the air system clean is not doing their job. If you choose to stay here, make sure your filters are cleaned out!”

“The house is in a mostly quiet neighborhood. The houses are so close you can hear others from inside. At one point it sounded like the neighbors were in our house even though they were outside of theirs. The communication with the rental company was not the best. One day I received a message saying for a fee I could extend our checkout and then when I called to pay the fee I was told I could not. I sent a message back saying I was told I couldn’t and received a message stating that I could and they would invoice me to pay. The day before our checkout I was told they didn’t get the fee from me and our checkout was not extended even though they had taken the money already. I sent screenshots and didn’t get a response until the morning of checkout that we could extend it after I had already started getting things ready to leave. The air went out once but maintenance was quick and able to fix it. The house was clean and had a lot of room but the company needs to work on their communication”

“Pros: —if you’re looking to be in a remote location, this is for you. —beautiful views —hot tub was comfortable. Cons: —there is definitely a stink bug infestation (as others have mentioned). I think we flushed 30+ over the 4 nights we stayed there. —I called to see if the cabin was ready as we were about an hour early. They wanted me to pay $25 to check in 2 hours early. When I told them we only wanted an extra hour (not 2), the response was, “So, do you want to pay the $25?” —the walls of the master bath were streaked with water stains. A simple coat of paint could go a long way. —dated finishes and cheap furnishings (30 minutes to brew a pot of coffee) —heavy (20+ MPH) winds blew the ground floor doors open despite engaging the lock. —don’t bank on the WiFi working. It’s not just hit & miss, it’s pretty much miss. —this is the first Airbnb that has required me to take out the trash before check out. I haven’t done Airbnb that often, so it could be the norm.”
