Manager Review

Bayou City Luxe

Bayou City Luxe's guest rating of 4.41 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Aside from my main concern, the home itself was phenomenal and very well kept. I stayed for well over two weeks and, overall, I would still recommend staying here, but future guests should be aware of a major issue with host communication and bedroom privacy. The master bedroom features massive windows with no window coverings whatsoever. This resulted in a complete lack of privacy from adjacent properties and terrible sleep due to the amount of light streaming in. When I messaged the host asking for window shades or even a temporary covering, I was completely ignored and never received a response. BATHING, DRESSING/UNDRESSING was a HARD NO outside of the bathroom. It really felt as though once my money was taken for the home, my concerns never mattered due to the transaction already being processed. If you don't mind the lack of master bedroom privacy or unresponsiveness from the host, the home is great, but basic communication and privacy should be a given. Hopefully this is fixed.”

“I left 3 stars because the home itself was nice and clean but I had a couple of complaints. The dryer barely works, they had someone come and try and fix it but nothing was fixed, I communicated that it wasn’t fixed but got no response so I was stuck with having to run the dryer 10 times per load, the only way you can get clothes to dry is if you put in literally 3 pieces of clothing. I read reviews saying the neighborhood felt safe.. extremely misleading, I didn’t feel safe at all stepping outside because there are stray dogs everywhere, one even tried to attack me, I tried reaching out to try and lock the front fence because it felt scary and unsafe at night but no one responded.”

“We had difficulty entering the property because the gate code was not working. Once we were finally able to get inside, we noticed a strong cigarette odor throughout the apartment. As we walked around, we also found several roaches. I reached out right away, but I was unable to get a call back. We were asked to stay in the unit overnight and wait for someone to come the next morning to spray, but I explained several times that we were not comfortable bringing our belongings into a unit with these issues. Because of the condition of the apartment and the health concerns involved, we were unable to stay. We requested a full refund.”

“Completely unresponsive host. Relocated me to a different Airbnb in a significantly worse neighborhood with the expectation of the relocation only being for one week due to AC problems at the original location. Host refused to provide me an accurate timeline and ignored my various messages asking for an update. I was willing to compromise since it seemed like an unideal situation for anyone however their completely unprofessional behavior and unresponsiveness was completely unacceptable and not worth the stay as the place was already more expensive than I think is truly warranted as the other reviews seen to indicate as well. I simply chose the place due to the location being ideal for my stay, but overall the experience as a guest was terrible.”

“Unit had significant cleanliness issues at check-in (heavy dirt/pet hair throughout, broken vacuum, soiled bedding) and a recurring cockroach problem throughout our stay, including sightings on days 5, 6, and 10, and again on day 15 — three days after professional extermination. One identified species was confirmed by the exterminator as one that survives indoors long-term. Host was somewhat responsive to messages but extermination wasn't scheduled until day 12, and the issue was not resolved by treatment. We relocated before the end of our reservation. Unfortunate because the property itself was nice and in a nice quiet neighborhood.”

“The self check-in and checkout process was very easy, and using a code to access the unit made everything convenient. We stayed here for a convention, so the location worked for that, but there isn’t much to do within walking distance, and we had to drive everywhere else. Unfortunately, the stay itself was disappointing. The unit did not feel very clean, and we found multiple roaches during our stay. After notifying the host about the issue, they stopped responding altogether. We also noticed several inaccuracies in the listing. The WiFi information provided did not match the actual network, and the checkout instructions said to load dishes into the dishwasher even though there wasn’t one in the unit. Despite the listing mentioning a cleaning crew, the property felt poorly maintained. To make matters worse, I even found a roach in my laundry bag after returning home. I hope Bayou City addresses these issues for future guests.”

“Let’s just say this is the 1st time I have ever had to leave a bad review but it is a must. First of all the neighborhood was very dim lit and sketchy bond fire going on right across the street. Train on the very next street running all through out the night. Scorching hot when arrived took 3 hours to cool off. Refrigerator not working it actually was blowing hot air so the food I brought went to waste. TV’s didn’t work and also missing from 2nd bedroom. Trash was left in the outside bend from previous guest I guess so you can imagine the smell after opening it after it been sitting in 90 degree weather. My family and I were forced to cut are stay a day short and when asked for a refund was denied. I drove 5 hours to visit family and it was not a great 1st impression. If you are looking for just a place to sleep and bathe cool. But if you want to relax, watch tv, cook, have WiFi accessible or want peace and quiet in the night 👀 please don’t book you will be disappointed like I was.”

“The house was great and looked exactly as pictured. It would have been a great stay if the neighbors would not have had a party with a live band. The party did not end until 5 am after a shooting. I was later told by friends in the area that this neighborhood is not the safest. We also did not have a way to lock the gate to our side of the property. The lock box was left open and the key was gone. We were not able to stay for a full night despite having to pay for two nights. The few hours that we were there, we were not able to sleep.”

“I’ve never encountered such poor communication from a host in all my years of using Airbnb. I had to repeatedly message and text the provided number to get any response, and still, I never received an answer about the possibility of early check-in. The home was clean, but it had some issues with the ceiling that looked like it was peeling. The worst part of our stay was being woken up every morning by construction right next to the home. The loud banging, yelling, and various tools at 5 or 6 am were extremely disruptive and spoiled our enjoyment of the stay.”

“Starting off I was very impressed bc of the clear directions and they even let us check in early. However soon after arriving one of the guest that was with us started having an allergic reaction. We first chalked it up to her using soap that was provided at the home. After not using that particular soap for a day she began to break out in hives after sleeping in one of the bedrooms. We decided to look under the matters to make sure there were no bugs. There weren’t any bugs, but there were bodily fluids on the mattress pads on the bed she was sleeping in. So it prompted us to look at all beds, and they all had stains on them. The host was responding at an ok manner however after checkout the communication was far and few inbetween. There were a few roaches as well that we discovered. The back yard door was broken so we couldn’t sit outside and the grass was tall so even if we could access the yard we still couldn’t because of the height of the grass. Dissapointed over all”
