This was a last-minute booking to meet friends in the Slade area. When we arrived in a steady rain, our car barely fit in the space left to us by a general store employee, but there wasn’t enough room to open the doors and unload so we moved to a spot farther away to unload. We then had conversations with several general store employees about moving our and their car, when one of them called us “hateful”. In the meantime we got wet unloading our things and splashing through the stream flowing down the path to the entry. The door code worked great, and the host was very responsive to a question I sent prior to arriving. It was warm in the room so we turned up the A/C, then turned on the oscillating fan, but we still spent the night sweating. The next day was cooler as it continued raining, and the room eventually cooled down. We were pleasantly surprised that the fridge was much larger than expected with a large freezer. The location was perfect for activities in the area!

Beautiful cabin, very close to many trails and activities in the gorge. We loved the windows and felt like we were in a tree house. The road leading up is steep and the turn into the driveway is a bit awkward but doable. We enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. Was a bit worried about waking sleeping kids up at night because sounds carried easily thru the house, not a big deal though.

We had a wonderful stay! The Natural Bridge was so close and also enjoyed the Daniel Boone Coffee Shop for breakfast which was also very close. The beds were comfortable, it was clean and tidy, had everything we needed in the kitchen, the hot tub was fantastic, enjoyed the fire pit, pool table, and fireplace. Loved the peace and quiet. Future guests: bring your own coffee and supplies (they have a Keurig and drip machine), hot tub towels, laundry soap if you want to do laundry, and paper towels (we received half a roll). Also there are no black out curtains so bring a sleep mask if you’re sensitive to that. Also be aware that the driveway is very steep and hard to turn around so backing in is probably better. My son has a Ford Focus and made it fine backing in with perfect weather. Not sure if that would be the same if it had rained. Overall incredible stay and would totally recommend! We can’t wait to come back!
