Manager Review

Vacationville

Vacationville's guest rating of 4.73 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

They had all of the amenities listed. Close to the beach, so quick access to beach and there is a nice hiking path there.

We enjoyed our stay. The access to the beach across the street was great. We loved going out at low tide when it felt like you could walk about a mile out onto the beach. Also the kids loved playing in the clubhouse pool. The house was as described. Good fit for our family of 4 and dog. The price was fair. We would stay again.

Great place to stay for the weekend. Everything was very walkable and love the coastal town feeling.

The Good: Birch Bay is amazing and this home in Blaine is perfectly located, with great views and a well-appointed interior. The Bad: We had serious trouble getting in on arrival and had to call the host after about 10 attempts at the door code. When he showed up, he also struggled with it, got it open, said "enjoy your stay," and left without fixing anything. We fought the same lock all week, often needing 6-7 tries to get inside. The Ugly: We booked this last-minute stay to escape major construction at our own Seattle condo, and even told the host we were looking forward to some peace and quiet. Turns out this building was under construction too: pneumatic hoses draped across the unit's balcony, a loud gas compressor pumping fumes under the window, and workers hammering on the roof, during the first two days. Would've picked elsewhere had we known. The space and location are great, but a functioning lock honest disclosure about construction are basic, and both were mishandled here

The property had some nice features, but communication was a major concern. We contacted the host about how to convert the advertised pool/hockey table to hockey mode and about a wall shelf holding the pool balls/hockey supplies that came loose from the wall. It appeared fine at check-in, but while my child was nearby, it fell forward. Thankfully he caught it and avoided being hit by the shelf and supplies. We notified the host about both these issues but received no response at all. There was no house manual or instructions in the listing or home. We were also unaware of a fire ban, despite the fire pit being listed as a feature. We chose the shed-style building because it had two beds for our children, but has no AC, windows, or bathroom, requiring frequent trips to the other building. We also woke up with new spider/bug bites each morning. For these reasons, I would not recommend this property for families with children.
