Manager Review

VacaMaui

VacaMaui's guest rating of 4.78 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

The condo was nice and in a great location but we were disappointed with the cleanliness and the fact that we found numerous bugs especially in the kitchen area. Josh was quick to respond and came and sprayed the next day but we continued to see a few bugs which we were told was to be expected. For this price, we expected a more hygienic place.

We enjoyed our stay at Joshua’s place. It was a perfect size for 2 of us to spend 10 days. Had everything we needed. For the most part it was clean, however the couch/couch pillows and bathroom tub had visible dirt stains. We also slid on the rug covering the broken tile, not a great place for a rug & that tile needs to be fixed for safety precautions. Overall we’d give this plays a 4/5 stars, it was in a great location, walkable to many stores and the beach.

Hard to find the unit at night because the unit signs are in a strange location with no lights (I found them in the morning). I had to walk up to multiple doors, open the screens and read the numbers on each door. Very much an older building and the a/c units are noisy and seemed weak. It is 100 feet from sugar beach and if you like sand it is perfect.

We enjoyed our 7-night stay and would recommend this property to others visiting Maui. The location was excellent, with easy access to the beach and local attractions. The unit was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The kitchen was well equipped, and we appreciated the beach amenities, including chairs, an umbrella, a cooler, and a surf/body board. The parking space and elevator access were also very convenient. One suggestion for improvement is maintenance follow-up. During our stay, the living room A/C unit developed a water leak. We reported it and appreciated the owner's response, but we did not receive any updates or see the issue resolved during our stay. More communication on maintenance issues would be helpful. The dryer also required multiple cycles to fully dry clothes and towels. Overall, these were minor concerns. The property was comfortable, well-equipped, and in a great location, and we were very satisfied with our stay.

Unfortunately, I would not stay here. We encountered cockroaches/bugs in the property as soon as we got their, and there were numerous bug traps placed on the kitchen countertops and other areas. When I raised the issue, I was told this was "normal," but I believe prospective guests should be informed of an ongoing pest issue before booking. Cleanliness was also disappointing. The property appeared to have received only a very superficial cleaning, with several areas feeling dirty and poorly maintained. Overall, the condition of the home did not match my expectations based on the listing.

Great location very close to the beach. Home was nicely updated. We had a few bumps in the road so we had to check out on the first day.

Great spot in Kihei, close to beach and nearby plazas. Bed was comfortable, A/C kept the place cool, and host provides beach chairs, a cooler, an umbrella, and bodyboards. Great kitchen and smart TV with a comfortable couch in the living room. The views from the lanai are so pretty and peaceful. This place is more affordable than hotels we saw in the area and comes with free parking and has a pickleball court, pool, grills. Parking lot A and B are in the front of the complex, lot C and D in the back. Walking to the complex has a bit of an incline which was fine for us but might prove a bit challenging to older or disabled visitors. The unit does need maintenance work in certain areas as mentioned in some other reviews and a bit of improved cleaning to improve ratings. The Wi-Fi range is quite weak as the modem is in the living room but the signal is very poor in the bedroom. My phone would lose signal just laying in bed. Overall, a great stay in Kihei and we would return!

Convenient location, Walking distance to the beach although you do have to be careful with the strong current. A few small issues: The master bedroom has the loudest bed I’ve ever experienced. If you move in your sleep at all- you will probably wake yourself up. There wasn’t a fitted sheet on the bed either which was a little strange, only a regular top sheet for the mattress that kept sliding off every night. Wasn’t the most comfortable either. We had a bug problem while there, but the owner did supply us with bug tape. You are in a tropical location after all, so no biggie, I would be wary to recommend this rental to anyone elderly or disabled, as the unit is on the 3rd floor with no elevator. It wasn’t a problem for us, we just got our workout in lifting our suitcases up the stairs. It was a nice touch having beach chairs and a cooler provided. All in all it served its purpose for the week!

Great area, nice unit but there were too many dead bugs all around said unit even though it was “cleaned” before check in. They covered a couple of broken tiles loosely with a small carpet by the entrance. My wife had tripped because of it but luckily she caught herself instead of landing on the floor and she’s pregnant. Great price for the area but not coming back here again unfortunately.
