TOPS'L Beach & Racquet Resort

“I would not stay here again for a couple of reasons. #1 there is a door in the main area that conjoins to another room and it might as well be an open walk way because even with that door closed and locked you can literally hear everything happening in the other unit next door just like they were standing inside our unit. They weren’t even loud people but you could hear every conversation, tv show, dish being washed, etc. #2 the unit was not clean. When we entered I first noticed all of the stains on the area rug, not very appealing. Then we grabbed some towels and they were dirty and/or stained. A coffee mug in the cabinet still had lipstick on it. There were long black hairs in the shower (we are blondes) and the bathtub was disgusting! I cleaned it myself and the water was brown when I was done scrubbing. I contacted the host and they said they would send someone to clean the next morning. A lady showed up with more towels and a coffee mug and that was it. No cleaning took place.”

“We were disappointed with our stay and don’t feel the property was worth the high price. The best parts were the excellent location, the nice pool area, and the short walk to the beach. Unfortunately, there were several issues. We received no official welcome or arrival instructions about the property or its amenities. Surprisingly, there were no beach towels provided, which meant we had to rush out on our first morning to buy towels before we could enjoy the beach. The unit had several maintenance and cleanliness problems. The bathtubs had visible mold, so we didn’t feel comfortable bathing our infant. Multiple lights and ceiling fans didn’t work, and the towel rack pulled out of the wall. When we contacted the host through Airbnb, they responded, but no meaningful solutions were provided. For the price, we expected a clean, well-maintained property with basic amenities and better communication. While the location is a major plus, the overall experience did not meet our expectations.”

“Great location! Have stayed in this area for a few years now! This unit is a bit outdated but comfy! Only thing now is you have to pay for the shuttle to take you to the beach when it used to be free.”

“The house was beautiful and clean. My only complaint was the distance to the beach. The description made it seem closer and walkable. You either have to pay for a shuttle or pay to park which is still a distance.”

“Tub not has issue draining, sand all over the main bedroom, no beach toys or cart like other communities”

“We chose Tops’l since it sat on the beach & there were a lot of amenities so we didn’t have to leave our place. We were under the understanding there were multiple pools to choose from along with putt putt, restaurants & other amenities. Upon arriving, we found out that only certain amenities were available to us & that the amenities are divided based on which building you are staying in, which is less than what was displayed. There is only one restaurant on the property that is running and it closes at 7 so we had to walk next door to the Hilton to eat. The main pool down by the beach was absolutely filthy and had a film all over it. Also bugs floating all over. We stayed at the summit and our pool there was very clean. Our room was connected to another room that had a locked door and we could hear everything in the other room. They had the TV on all night loud and it prevented us from sleeping. We did enjoy the property, but were disappointed by lack of sleep & false expectations.”

“Beautiful view and clean condo. However, we had an issue at check-in with the age policy. TOPS’L and the Airbnb hosts were incredibly unhelpful and did not even attempt to help us problem-solve. It took over 4 hours off of our weekend trip that we drove 5 hours for, and we paid almost $600 for 2 nights. Their greatest solution was to cancel our reservation and rebook (aka pay the full booking price again with no refund). Overall, this stay was unfortunately not worth the money.”

“This unit was recently remodeled and was not at all ready to rent. It was as if they rushed to get everything done before our arrival and missed several things, some more important than others. As we first walked in we were a bit confused because it looked nothing like the pictures. The new flooring looked nice and so did the apartment except it was missing some key items, like dressers for clothes in the master bedroom, no nightstands (dresser and nightstands were in all the pictures) a TV stand in the master bedroom that was so short you couldn't even watch TV from the bed. The closet was absolutely packed with junk leftover from the remodel, pictures, small tables, other decorations. This was extremely frustrating because we had nowhere to put our clothes. I immediately reached out to the property manager to ask for a dresser and nightstands. They kept offering to send housekeeping to clean out the closets. They would not move us to another unit. We asked for it to be escalated”

“Our stay was honestly very disappointing and uncomfortable. From the moment we arrived, there were multiple issues that made us uneasy. The room was not as clean as expected. We found dirty pillows and used full body towels, which is unacceptable for a new guest check in. There were also concerns about safety and privacy, as certain devices in the unit made us uncomfortable, and we were unable to access the balcony as advertised. Additionally, the host failed to disclose important age requirements prior to booking. Early in the morning, we were woken up by the security director and a security guard who were recording us without our consent and told us we either needed a parent present or had to leave within the hour. If we had been forced to leave, we would have been left without a place to stay, as no reimbursement or alternative accommodations were offered. This was extremely unsettling and could have been completely avoided with proper communication”
