Manager Review

Okoboji Vacation Company

Okoboji Vacation Company's guest rating of 4.74 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

The place was nice overall and accommodated 10 of us, but there was a noticeable urine smell coming from the pullout bed in the couch. You could smell it while sitting on the couch, which made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the space. The owners were responsive and sent someone to clean it, but unfortunately the smell still lingered afterward. The listing also mentioned portable fans, so I did not bring my own. When I asked, they did drop off a couple of fans, which I appreciated. For around $1,000 per night, I did not expect to have to deal with a lingering urine smell. I appreciate the owners trying to help, but it definitely impacted our stay

beautiful place and within walking distance to arnold’s park amusement/pier. only issue was cleanliness and then the pool. our feet were black from walking around barefoot the moment we stepped into bnb. the pool also was quite dirty and not well kept.

Different with me, thought this place was wonderful. And for the most part , it was very nice. Has the property manager?I can tell you that both my maintenance and cleaning cruise would have been sent back to finish the job.

Overall disappointed in the experience. From the mold on the walls in the basement and in the bathroom vents, the overwhelming musty smell throughout, dog hair, dirty rugs in the bathrooms, cobwebs, dirty stovetop, the couch cushions on top and underneath need vacuumed - I’m not sure what the cleaning fee pays for. There were also several places where the flooring was coming up by the kitchen/dining room table and we tripped several times, which is quite scary for aging parents who are a fall risk. The washing machine also appears to be leaking into the basement. The pictures make the location look updated but it isn’t. Their family friends used the dock multiple times while we were staying there so it felt like we couldn’t. They were very nice but we didn’t feel comfortable to use it since they were. Overall not worth what we paid. This place needs some tlc and maintenance work.

It was a great location that was central to everything and very walkable, but unfortunately this place was not cleaned like it should be. There were spiders in literally every single corner (a whole family of 10-15 spiders). Extremely frustrating for the price to then be expected to sleep with spiders all night. Half of the sheets they offered for the bed smelt like bad odor which was extremely unsanitary. The bathrooms were very small which is not shown in the images but still managed to work OK for us. The bathroom and shower are separated in different rooms, and there’s not a shower curtain in the shower only a shower liner, so water ends up going all over the floor. On top of this, the free WiFi that was advertised did not work. I’m not sure if the router was kept in the main house next to our place, because we only would get one bar so nothing would work on our phones. The location was amazing, but for what we got for the price was deceiving and overall frustrating.

Amenities are truly scarce. No coffee or even spare batteries for the TVs which was an issue during our stay) Does not have a keurig, so bring ground coffee. Beds feel unstable, like screws need to be tightened. Also arrived to the trash can in kitchen having garbage in it. Location was perfect for us and house worked for our vacation.

Great place to stay for a group. Backyard and deck were amazing and easy access for the lake. Great dock. Short drive to great spots on the lake and off. Bedding and towels were clean. We did notice fruit flies upon arrival, found dishes left in the dishwasher, old food in and under the couch as well as an old moldy baby bottle.

We enjoyed the house - Just wished the patio was clean and the furniture was clean and covered - we wanted to spend time outdoors obviously. Suggestion: Get new furniture and get covers no one wants to sit on wet dirty moldy cushions, esprcially for the amount we paid.

Place was okay. The yard was not maintained and the grass was incredibly long. Even though the description says fire pit, there was not one. Messaged the host about it and nothing got done. When we went to check out, we had to strip the covers off of the bed. There were dead flies under the sheets. Not super clean. Cabins are crammed together closer than camper lots at a campground and only two parking spots total for a section of 7 cabins.
