Northern Michigan Escapes
4.72Visit website
Northern Michigan Escapes's guest rating of 4.72 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Pros: place looks like the pictures, nicely decorated, great for larger parties, close to ski hills, nice amenities at house for skiers Cons: Not sure it was worth $4200 for two nights. We arrived to an atrocious smell. Food was left in the grill for so long maggots formed- makes me question cleaning quality. Thick layer of dust on light fixtures in kitchen, jacuzzi wasn’t working properly, outlet and exterior cafe lights weren’t working. Doesn’t provide washcloths, low quality toilet paper, didn’t provide any laundry products like listed, check out instructions didn’t line up with what was actually on site. They have you use a website- which is fine but i had to ask for my log in credentials to get to the info, got in fine, then it wouldn’t let me log back in. I let them know but it was never restored. After all that, the website is overkill and makes the check in/out and communication process confusing. If you sleep on first floor- take ear plugs, you will hear everything.”airbnb

“The view from the condo was great however the condo itself needs some love. My husband and I would only sit outside or in the bed because the couches had a variety of unidentified stains. The rugs throughout the condo were also excessively stained and we moved them out of the way so we didn’t have to touch them. There were also dead bugs hanging in the corners of every room which just means this place is not being cleaned throughly. Signs said checkout was 11 but had to be out by 10 and with a 4pm check in not a lot of time for the amount of dollars spent per night. Also had to ask for check in instructions as they are not sent in advance and then lost access to the guide”airbnb

“The basement kids room was ice cold and Ad wasn’t working upstairs. Kids end of sleeping on floor in the first and second floor rooms”airbnb

“Speaking in regard to room 109 in particular, whoever previously lived there long term… must of been elderly.. which I feel bad to be insensitive to that situation.. but from the second you walk in you smell what I like to say a “nursing home” scent. It’s a very distinctive smell.. and for those who expect a clean air bnb this was not it. I understand things being outdated but you should not host folks when you know how bad the room is and smells. Not only that but I killed about 4 big spiders during my time there, and when I tried to talk to the host they were unresponsive after 5 PM and ZERO help because the front desk leaves at 9 and you have no one. They had no care in the world for the fact we did not enjoy our stay, I do not recommend.”airbnb

“This is very good place, but for some reason the maps led us in adiffernt direction, so it became extremely difficult to find the house. Since, it was very dark when we arrived. Rest all this is completely worth the entire money we paid for”airbnb

“My disappointment is Not in Edgewater Inn at all, it is in the Airbnb because they promised to refund us for our first 2 terrible nights and never got it!! We received 3 calls from a guy called Mo. that promised us a refund we never received!! SO they did not fix anything for us, I also have sent many messages to Northern Michigan Escapes on the Airbnb app to settle this issue for us and never did =(”airbnb

“Since this was a lower unit, it felt like a cave & the lighting was inconvenient (there wasn’t an outlet to plug in the lamp between the beds which was weird). The walls & ceiling are THIN & the people upstairs sounded like they were going to come crashing through in the bedroom all hours of the night & morning. The upstairs deck is also close to the bedroom & you can hear literally every thing the neighbors say. We weren’t there much though & it was clean, plus the area is gorgeous!”airbnb

“We had a great time. The condo was very cute and clean, we loved the porch ( We saw a few huge spiders out there at night which really freaked my daughter out though.) 2 things were amiss with our stay: We arrived at 5:00 and there was nobody at the front desk for about 15 minutes for us to get our check in code. We were very tired from driving- kids were antsy and just wanted to get in and relax a little. We came to Charlevoix to visit friends we haven’t seen in years so we stayed up late visiting. When it was time to go to sleep around 11-11:30 we realized there were no sheets for the pullout bed. So my son slept on beach towels on the pullout couch ( he didn’t care as much as we did.) I figured at $800 for a 2 night stay that they would already be in the condo. Didn’t get a response until the next morning which I get because it’s late, but the sheets should have already been there. Other than that we had a great stay and would stay again. Would just check for sheets earlier!”airbnb

“Location was great for the marathon and the bed was comfortable …. However, everything else was pretty underwhelming. The ac is only in the living room doesn’t reach the bedroom? Felt like a sauna in the room and with wasn’t even 65 outside… The doors and the trim were all broken and or don’t close correctly. The walls are made out of paper mache and could hear our second floor guests running around for hours. Contacted the front desk and they did nothing to help. The shower was all around terrible. Did not get warm at all and then water pressure was non existent. Overall, everything felt dated and run down. Have been to Charlevoix 4 times now and this was my worst experience. For the price this place is, go somewhere else!”airbnb

“This was our first vacation where we took our dogs with us. So it was a learning experience. I would not necessarily recommend this unit if your pets are easily spooked. The unit is right next to the main entrance door for guest and it was constantly being slammed, often time through out the night. The outside also had dog poop scattered everywhere, by no fault of the host but the condo/hotel. The receptionist, when I explained that we had our dogs with us, was not the kindest. I had added the dogs to our bnb booking but wanted to make sure they knew as well. She acted as though I was a nuisance to begin with. We enjoyed the walkability and the ability to see the bridge go up and down from the screened in patio. We were also happy that we came at the time we did because the patio looked into the hotel pool, making it not the most private.”airbnb
