My Galveston Getaway
4.58Visit website
My Galveston Getaway's guest rating of 4.58 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Horrible stay don't recommend stying here or any property managed by Galveston Gateway due to safety concerns and communication issues. The room was doubled booked so at midnight while my family and I were sleeping two random women opened door and if it was not due to the latch on the door they would have been inside. They claim they provide guest with unique codes to open the door since there is no key but that is a lie because they were able to open the door. It was very frighting for us. I immediately called the host no answer, I called the emergency number I was provided by the host no answer, I sent a message on Airbnb no answer, I called the security who told me there was no one there that could help with this issue. I called Airbnb and told them about this and they also were not able to contact the host. Eventually the two women outside left and the woman managing the room contacted me to let me know the room was double booked. Their negligence almost ruined our family trip.”airbnb

“First off, I didnt feel like I was renting from Cathie. The emails for response came from My Galveston Getaway. I tried to email Cahtie but never received a response from her (to be fair I booked on a Thursday for the Friday, Saturday, Sunday stays). The power went out Friday/Saturday and I tried calling the number left by My Galveston Getaway and there was no answer and no way to leave a message, so we just had to wait until the issue was resolved. The unit itself was cute - not like the pictures but still cute. The smoke alarm cover was removed and alot of dust had collected there. The shower curtain liner was moldy and could def use a new on. On the airbnb site it stated that it included all the fees but that was not the case - When we arrived there was an additional $40 resort fee (not sure if that is an issue with airbnb or with the hotel - but I feel people should be warned). People were extremely friendly, loved the hot tub and the pool was amazing..”airbnb

“the photos have to be very old or ai generated. the windows in the bedroom are broke and cant close them. pot smoke entered the bedroom where my kids were sleeping. noise from people above and next to us was unbearable at times. mold in the shower, peeling and flaking paint everywhere, cockroaches, rusty doors, had to buy toilet paper, garbage bags, soap and dishwasher soap. they gave you 1 of everything as a "starter pack". wifi didn't work, cell coverage is horrible inside and no wifi made it impossible to communicate with anyone while inside the building. pool areas were nice but the hot tubs were extremely hot, probably illegal and the jets were not working on one of them. the main bed if you can call it that. "pressboard with 4x4 posts on the floor and a foam pad on top" was so uncomfortable I had to switch to the other bedroom after the first night. I could barely walk the next day. the host was responsive the first day to get in and after telling her the problems..crickets.”airbnb

“After hours check-in directions were incorrect and on-call person did not pick up the phone. My family was stuck outside at 3 AM after a long travel day, unable to access the condo. When the on-call person eventually picked up their phone and we gained access to the unit, we saw a cockroach right as we walked in. The rest of the stay was pleasant and unproblematic.”airbnb

“there were no sheets on the top bunk. I told her about it, she didn't offer to come fix or give a partial refund, and then emailed me saying that I stole her sheets. I won't stay at a property of hers again.”airbnb

“Overall we were pleased with our stay. We were disappointed with the lack of communication on the separate pool payment and minimal essentials in the air bnb such as dish soap, garbage bags, toilet paper, and tinfoil.”airbnb

“The only thing I can admit is there my air b&b profile had the wrong number listed, so they couldn’t get in contact with me by phone. She sent me an email saying I can’t check in until I fill out some form & I already paid in full! What do you mean? Never the less, I filled out the form. I messages her @9:19pm the lobby doesn’t close until 11. Never received a response. Gave her play by of my delay and let her know what time we would make it! Never got a response or call back until 3:18 am. I had messaged her and called her multiple times, with no answer, reply or return call. She didn’t even answer or respond to let me know she sent the email instructions of how to get in the room! Which result in my son & I paying for a room next door @ Spark! Next morning get in the room & Ewww! This room is old. The hotel next door was cheaper and better than this. The toilet, the tub, the stove! Ewww! Not appealing at all! False advertising at its greatest! Also, you only mention a $35 parking fee”airbnb

“Ac didn’t work upon arrival. Windows cracked and not able to be locked. We left after the first night due to the ac and maintenance men in and out trying to fix it. We were offered a refund but only received a small partial refund. Then a couple days later were sent a request to pay the host another $75 for pets that we didn’t even bring. Host didn’t make the situation right as discussed.”airbnb

“I messaged the host before booking to confirm that we would be able to arrive in the middle of the night, she confirmed we could. Thankfully we decided against it because we were given the wrong door code to enter into our room and had to be put on hold until they could get us the correct code. The condo itself was very accurately described and I have zero complaints about the condo itself. The ac works amazing. The photo on the listing is zoomed in to make it look like you have a great “view” of the beach but actually your don’t have much of a view. BOTH hot tubs were locked and closed during our entire 3 day stay. When We arrived the sign on the hot tubs said closed for maintenance will reopen tomorrow but they were never available so we were bummed about that. If your looking for a super affordable condo though this place is worth the money.”airbnb
