Mr. Lake Lure Vacation Rentals

“Gorgeous house! Ran into a few problems with cleanliness and amenities. I also take issue with a 4pm check in and a 10pm checkout with no wiggle room. We had to clean every dish we tried to cook with. Almost everything was dirty with obvious food gunk. Cutting boards had bell pepper stuck to them and silverware had just obviously not been cleaned as well as pots and pans and plates with food just stuck onto them. For a place with that much time to clean up before arrival, a cleaning fee, and with the expense of this location this was very unacceptable. I mentioned it nicely to the host and got no apology or response. When I was messaged by someone (a general weekend host message asking if there was anything they could do to help let them know) I did let them know we needed paper towels (left 1 roll for 8 adults for a whole weekend and it had red fingerprint stains on it from unclean hands touching before we got there) and trash bags. Was told to go to the store. A little dissapointin”

“My family spent a great week at this house. The house needs a little maintenance, there were light bulbs out, the ice maker was broken, and many of the doors were hard to open. Overall though we were very happy with the house.”

“The house was just as pictured. Plenty of room for our family. We especially enjoyed playing ping-pong and didn’t realize there was a table so it was a lot of fun. If you were looking for a peaceful and quiet getaway, this is your place.”

“Beautiful location and community. Cabin had great space and we loved the hot tub and creek. Home could have been cleaned better and noticeable stains and smells. Communication with host could have been more hospitable.”

“My review is based solely on the house, which is all that really matters in the end. It's spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. It's perfectly positioned to make the most of the beautiful view of the mountains. I'm sure it's stunning in the fall once the leaves change colors! The location is great as well, just a short drive to restaurants and Lake Lure. It's a great place to stay for a small to medium-sized party! My only issues were with all the extra "stuff" you had to do to book here. We've stayed at many, many Airbnb's all over the world, and this one was probably the most intense as far as signing agreements, showing ID's, etc. You'll get quite a few emails, texts, and messages. To be fair, they do mention this in the listing, but for what it's worth, it's excessive and more than what a typical Airbnb booking requires. The check-in process is pretty old school, too. But overall, the house and its accommodations made up for any inconvenience.”

“It’s a great spot to share with a group. The driveway will not work for a sedan or van. It’s too steep. There were no comms through Airbnb after booking, so I couldn’t add guests to the messages. The kitchen needs to be restocked with basic dishes and cookware. The organizing of the kitchen made no sense.”

“Well, I love Lake Lure. However, the rental company makes a vacation feel like a chore with all of the rules and regulations that are constantly being sent. It’s almost overwhelming the amount of emails and text about what not to do and the fines that you’ll have to pay if you use their towels for makeup, if you check in a few minutes early, if you lose the badge, if you leave anything behind then there’s a huge fee. Again, it just felt like it wasn’t very welcoming. I’ve stayed at a lot of Airbnb‘s and Vrbos and never experienced to that level of overbearing rules. Unfortunately, the house also had quite a smell to it.”

“Large house with 4 floors. Beautiful, private location with amazing creek access-broken and DANGEROUSLY repaired dock footing though. Listing should warn renters about the 4 sets of stairs inside-disabled, very young/old could not safely navigate. Lots of rules as in NO outside guests at all. Cameras to monitor. Renter to be at the house 24hrs/day or risk violating contract. Very serious-day trips, visiting others, enjoying vacation & out was an issue for them. NOT 5 bedrooms. 5th BR was obviously a 4th floor storage closet converted-hot, no good AC, no closet, NO nearby bathroom(another floor& across the house), poor quality twin mattresses. No one wanted to sleep there. AC broke for main sleeping floor 3rd morning-told not to be fixed & could find another house.Then,5 leaks from kitchen ceiling needing pots/pans everywhere. Manager expected me to be available to sit with her agent & vendor. Reported me to Airbnb bc my absence angered manager .No kitchen daily stuff-wraps,storage,etc.”
