“The place was beautiful a little hard to get to with not having a number on the house or on the tree before the driveway other than that beautiful location, especially this time of year when the leaves are all changing and you can see the mountains from the lake”

“The only negative would be that it lacked privacy related to the main entrance being a sliding glass door. The slider did not have any means or methods of providing privacy in terms of a curtain or blinds. Anyone parking on the shared docs or passing by in their crafts could look and see directly inside. Other than that, outstanding!”

“The cleaning staff needs to do better, the sheets on the bed had short hairs stuck to them, cobwebs all over, dusty floors burnt out bulbs, stained futon mattress..fyi they sell covers for those. Slats on the one bed kept falling off middle of the night. Only 2 usable cooking pots, cookie/baking sheets don't fit in oven, no grill utensils, had to buy a pot and spatula. Fire stick didn't work, remote to DVD didn't work, had to have a Roku brought in order to have TV. The cabin was adorable, the property lovely... But... Do better what could have been an amazing Birthday getaway for me and family was less than.”

“Beautiful spot. We were expecting 1 cabin but the rooms were split up into 2 cabins which wasn’t made clear in the description.”

“The place & location is beautiful, peaceful and ideal. The only issue is the managing of the property. After 8hrs of drive, we were surprised to walk into an Airbnb that wasn’t cleaned. The place was left unclean from the previous guest, which felt kinda disgusting. After 8hr drive, nobody wants to walk in and start cleaning. We couldn’t use the bathroom, bedroom and we found A clean sheet and slept on the couch. The next day mangement come to clean but I was even more uncomfortable how quickly they cleaned the place. I understand they needed to clean quickly but it felt like a quick sweep instead of a clean place. After seeing how rushed the cleaning was, I questioned the cleanliness of the entire house so for the reminder of the stay, we slept on the sofa. I would pay half the price for what is provided. As people that choose Maine to vacation and look for the rural experience, the price and aminity doesn’t match the experience. It bare bone. The place has potential but needs work.”

“They cancelled my reservation in the middle of my stay. On the first day, I took an item I thought I was allowed to take; it was a fire log in a fire pit at a cabin next to mine. I thought it had the same owner. When I was told I had been observed on camera stealing, I apologized and offered to return the log. It was just a misunderstanding, I thought it was left by a previous AirBnB guest. The next day, I stepped onto the lawn of that same property twice to view the lake. The building was vacant and I didn't realize it was going to be a big issue. Later that day, I got several messages saying the police were coming to "remove me." The manager called me and was threatening police removal and charges for trespassing. I voiced my intent to leave but continued to get threats of forced police removal start to end in both the message thread on AirBnb as well as on the phone. Absolutely crazy! Could not get out of there fast enough.”

“The space was nice and the view was amazing. You are expected to remove all trash yourself and not doing so results in a $100 fee. Typically this would not be problematic but their dumpster is 25-30 minutes away from the property. For us, this was 25-30 minutes in the opposite direction of our 10 hour drive home. Other than that our stay was great!”

“Location with lake view was very nice as was the private dock. Place was clean. Pictures were deceiving though. It was very small and listing was inaccurate describing it as having a queen sized bed. It was a full. The cabin can sleep 5 but there is no possible way 5 people can fit in there. It was tight with 2 people with luggage. No place to put clothing and personal effects except on top of the other bed (also a full). Hedgehog cabin was the least private as the firepit and picnic table were in the front of all other cabins. Moosehead property did not respond at all when immediately told about the inaccurate listing and inquiry for a different accommodation.”

“Although the cabin is a quaint location with a beautiful view, some things left us frustrated and regretful we did not stay elsewhere. One, guests paying a significant sum should not be expected to haul their trash to a dumpster nearly 15 minutes across town. We learned this days into our stay while reading the check out instructions. Second, though the listing’s description and photos paint a scene of privacy, there is a large cabin 100 feet from the rental. During our stay a large family was staying there who monopolized the small beach. Otherwise, the rental was comfortable.”

“This was my 4th trip to Moosehead to ice fish this season. The camp was cozy and location was good if you wanted to fish that end of the lake. They don’t provide towels and they don’t let you arrive early just to park to go fish. So if you come up for a trip Friday-Sunday you get one full day to fish. Check in was at 4pm and check out was 10am so only a couple hours to fish after you arrive and before you depart. This was the only property that did not allow us to get there early just to park and be able to head to the lake to fish before check in. If you’re fine with that than this is a nice place to stay but if you’re a serious fisherman heading to moosehead there’s a lot better options north of the moose river bridge who provide towels and are very accommodating. It was very disappointing to say the least since this establishment has been around a long time. You’d think with all the competition around now service would be better not worse.”
