Moosehead Property Rentals

“They cancelled my reservation in the middle of my stay. On the first day, I took an item I thought I was allowed to take; it was a fire log in a fire pit at a cabin next to mine. I thought it had the same owner. When I was told I had been observed on camera stealing, I apologized and offered to return the log. It was just a misunderstanding, I thought it was left by a previous AirBnB guest. The next day, I stepped onto the lawn of that same property twice to view the lake. The building was vacant and I didn't realize it was going to be a big issue. Later that day, I got several messages saying the police were coming to "remove me." The manager called me and was threatening police removal and charges for trespassing. I voiced my intent to leave but continued to get threats of forced police removal start to end in both the message thread on AirBnb as well as on the phone. Absolutely crazy! Could not get out of there fast enough.”

“The space was nice and the view was amazing. You are expected to remove all trash yourself and not doing so results in a $100 fee. Typically this would not be problematic but their dumpster is 25-30 minutes away from the property. For us, this was 25-30 minutes in the opposite direction of our 10 hour drive home. Other than that our stay was great!”

“Location with lake view was very nice as was the private dock. Place was clean. Pictures were deceiving though. It was very small and listing was inaccurate describing it as having a queen sized bed. It was a full. The cabin can sleep 5 but there is no possible way 5 people can fit in there. It was tight with 2 people with luggage. No place to put clothing and personal effects except on top of the other bed (also a full). Hedgehog cabin was the least private as the firepit and picnic table were in the front of all other cabins. Moosehead property did not respond at all when immediately told about the inaccurate listing and inquiry for a different accommodation.”

“This is a beautiful location. Really close to the water. It was a little tricky getting kayaks in and out due to rocks. You need to be careful. It was really quiet and peaceful. You can barely hear the ATV’s going out by Rum Ridge. I would totally recommend this place to young families.”

“The cabin was well stocked & very clean! My kids absolutely loved the swing on the enclosed porch. Close to town, so you never had to worry if you needed something. It was a little closer to other cabins than I had anticipated & the swimming area wasn't really little kid friendly as it is large slippery rocks. Otherwise, it was a great escape & lovely cabin!”

“Although the cabin is a quaint location with a beautiful view, some things left us frustrated and regretful we did not stay elsewhere. One, guests paying a significant sum should not be expected to haul their trash to a dumpster nearly 15 minutes across town. We learned this days into our stay while reading the check out instructions. Second, though the listing’s description and photos paint a scene of privacy, there is a large cabin 100 feet from the rental. During our stay a large family was staying there who monopolized the small beach. Otherwise, the rental was comfortable.”

“Overall we had a good stay. The water smelled like sulfur and had a light brown tinge so we did not drink it or used it to brush our teeth. There was hair on the bathroom floor. The door did not open easily, it took a lot to push it open. The cabin matched the pictures and it was in a good location. The private beach at the end of the road was clean and a good place to let our dog swim. There were also very friendly neighbors in the community and we had fun gathering there to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July. It was a quick 10 minute drive into Greenville.”

“This was my 4th trip to Moosehead to ice fish this season. The camp was cozy and location was good if you wanted to fish that end of the lake. They don’t provide towels and they don’t let you arrive early just to park to go fish. So if you come up for a trip Friday-Sunday you get one full day to fish. Check in was at 4pm and check out was 10am so only a couple hours to fish after you arrive and before you depart. This was the only property that did not allow us to get there early just to park and be able to head to the lake to fish before check in. If you’re fine with that than this is a nice place to stay but if you’re a serious fisherman heading to moosehead there’s a lot better options north of the moose river bridge who provide towels and are very accommodating. It was very disappointing to say the least since this establishment has been around a long time. You’d think with all the competition around now service would be better not worse.”
