“Location and view are great but the house is very run down and in desperate need of maintenance. Disappointing, especially for the price point.”

“We feel like we were cat fished on the home and paid way too much for the stay we paid almost 6000 dollars. The pictures presented on air b&b showed clean luxury and that is not what we got. We had to call for maintenance at least twice. I grew up on the ocean in Virginia Beach I know what the salt air does but you present this place differently and it is not worth the cost. I could have gotten a more affordable home to stay in had I had know the honest condition of this beach house. Not to mention my daughter getting ice from the refrigerator ice dispenser and black mold was on the ice from passing through the dispenser. My husband getting splinters from the deck that's railings are wobbly and unstable. Not the new portion of the deck,the old portion. I could go on and on. We had no choice but to make due with what we were given this house was only worth 3500 a week. I have honest pictures and a video of the black mold from the ice dispenser. Disappointed, ripped off. beware”

“We loved staying here! The beachfront property was so peaceful. You could hear the waves all day long with the door open. It was the perfect little getaway for my family. No need in a condo anywhere else bc this was perfect. The only thing I have to say that wasn’t positive is that we had 5 kids under 5 and an 8 month old crawling on the wooden deck. Everyone had splinters from playing. And not just little splinters, big ones. Other than the deck needing some upkeep, the place was great! If you have small kids, bring a baby gate for the stairs! We did and it allowed us to relax without worrying about someone falling down the stairs.”

“Enjoyed the location. Inside was perfect for our use, open, roomy and updated furnishings and decor. Needs some attention to maintenance inside for normal usage of things worn out or needs fixing.”

“First off the location was great. Private bayside beach and water views front and back. Place was clean with good linens and adequate amount of towels. The starter packs as described are enough for about 2 days. So the bad ….. the refrigerator squealed on and off our whole stay. It disrupted most of our time in the house. Second the master bed room’s bed needs to be replaced it’s squeaked horribly. This was mentioned in others reviews, but we thought by the time we visited it would be resolved. But no. We contacted JS on 3 occasions. A maintenance man finally came to fix the bed. Said he did his best but it still squeaked. Not to his fault, it was just beyond repair. Then the night before we left right at dinner time a repair guy came out to look at fridge at 5 pm… couldn’t fix it. So we lived with the squeaky bed and the super squealing fridge the whole time. When you come somewhere to relax but have to deal with repairmen and faulty things I really would NOT stay here again.”

“We love Dauphin Island! This rental was okay. We had to ask for the code to enter the home, as it wasn’t sent 2 hours prior to check in. However, the back door was open. The dishes could have been cleaner. The remote control for the TV was not operable. The dryer did not work. The propane tank for the gas grill was empty. While all these are minor issues, we reported them promptly, but nothing was remedied for us. All in all we had a great trip and the location and view are outstanding.”

“Our 1st time at Dauphin Island. We loved it!. The house was in a great location in West Beach. Sunsets were beautiful!! Wish there were a few more basics in the house (first aid kit, beach towels, cooking oil, salt & pepper, vacuum for all the sand) but we made it work. The deck gate latch was broken and missing which made for a few escape issues with the dogs and the toddler (big safety concern), the screen door from one of the bedrooms was duct taped and unusable, and the giant dumpster in the back made for a few less ideal conditions. Overall, the location is great and we loved how peaceful and relaxed the island was. We happened to be there during the bird banding which was super fun and interesting for the kids, and we made good use of the Welcome Center puzzles. Definitely our new favorite beach spot and we can’t wait to visit Dauphin again!”

“We arrived around 11:15 pm with two kids and two infants, and unfortunately the door code did not work. We had to wait about 20 minutes outside and contact support before gaining access, which was very stressful late at night with young children. Once inside, the condo itself was nice and comfortable. However, there was no clear checkout information provided, and our request for extra checkout time was denied. Overall, the apartment was good, but the check‑in process and communication need improvement.”

“For being recent construction, this house is getting to be rough. The decks badly need a sanding. We pulled countless slivers from the kids hands and feet. The pool gate is sagging badly, needs to be lifted to latch and doesn't automatically swing closed posing a safety concern with little kids. The mold in the cracks and corners of the shower should be cleaned. The pots and pans in the kitchen are flaking teflon and are trash. There is absolutely nothing for spices or basic kitchen supplies. The grill is a rickety rusty mess that is caked in grease and wouldn't light. Numerous cycle settings on the washer and dryer don't work correctly. The dishwasher must run several times to get dishes that look clean. There was about 1 shower towel per person. Only 3 pool towels for a house that accommodates 15? The flooring in the kitchen, dining and common area has gaps, cracks and deterioration. It appeared as if the host was going for the least and cheapest possible to maximize profits.”
