It was a very nice and clean place in a great location with a nice view of the ocean. During our stay, they needed to come in and replace a bed frame, and I had to call a couple of times outside of the app to get updates on when they would be coming so we could make sure we were there. When the maintenance man arrived, he did not knock before opening the screen door and walking in, which was a little unexpected. Aside from that, we had no issues and we had a nice stay overall and enjoyed the property. Would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Maalaea Kai! The oceanfront location was beautiful. The area was peaceful and quiet, which was really nice after spending the day exploring Maui. The location was also very convenient and central for getting to different parts of the island. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We especially loved being able to sit outside, enjoy the breeze, and watch the ocean right from the property. Overall, we had a wonderful and relaxing stay and would definitely recommend Maalaea Kai to anyone looking for a quiet oceanfront place in Maui!

The place was beautiful and accessible to beach. It was neat and clean. The only issue we found was even though the beach access park was open from 6am-9PM, over the weekend there were illegal camping troups using the beach access facility making it hard for us to use it.

Very dirty, poorly maintained apartment. The linens were humid and with stains. The apartment was full of dead mosquitos. Overall, the TV and the other equipments looked like they were taken from the 70’. Very poor deal

Quiet area and private beach. Apartment was a bit dated which matched the photos. Apartment was coated in small insects upon arrival and bedding was full of them. Would not have thought much about it since it was tropical except we had zero bugs after two days of cleaning which makes me think the apartment was not properly cleaned prior to us staying there. Would highly recommend the rental for couples looking for peace and quiet.

Had high hopes for this place. Our first time in Maui, we arrived late at night. Upon entering we noticed a few bugs-we understand this is by the water. We can handle bugs. Looking around, we realized it was more than that. A complete infestation. Thousands of bugs (literally) swarming the place. Where the wall met the carpet, a thick black line-all bugs. We couldn’t sleep there-the bed was covered. While contacting the host immediately, we saw cockroaches crawling around. We left with our stuff and contacted Airbnb for help. It took hours (until 2 am) for Airbnb to help us, because they said that the host had told them “this was normal in a natural environment.” It was not normal. The host never replied to us. We shared photos and videos with both the host and Airbnb. Eventually our trip was refunded (again, after hrs of begging for help while we were on the side of the road . Airbnb helped, not the host.) Extremely disappointing. We luckily found a great alternative Airbnb.

On the evening of Friday, March 13th, the unit began to flood with heavy rainwater, and the roof started leaking. Soon after, the power went out and we had no hot water to shower with even. There was no assistance available despite multiple attempts to find help. I spent hours trying to clean up the water, working until 3:00 a.m. Exhausted, I tried to rest, but the fire alarm suddenly went off and would not stop, forcing me to disconnect it manually. Things became even more alarming when the building next door partially collapsed. It was extremely frightening, and my wife began having panic attacks. We spent the night without electricity, light, or communication. The next morning (Saturday, March 14th), we still had no hot water and found the property surrounded by over a foot of mud and floodwater, preventing us from leaving. With no way to drive or call for assistance, we were effectively stranded. We survived using a few candles and food until power and hot water were finally rest
