Hiller Vacation Homes

Hiller Vacation Homes's guest rating of 4.66 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

The home was nice inside and clean. The only things that we did not find 5 star was the parking is a little tight for a boat trailer and a couple vehicles. Also there is currently no address number by the road so it was a little confusing at first since the house can not be seen from the road and checkout is at 8am. Just a little early for us being on vacation but not a deal breaker.

The property has some great positives, including a nice amount of space and a good location. We were able to make the best of our stay and enjoyed being together as a group. However, considering the price we paid, we were disappointed with the overall condition and cleanliness of the property. The cleanliness was below what we expected. The carpets had noticeable stains, and there appeared to be mold in some rooms. The kitchen was advertised as a gourmet kitchen, but we found it poorly equipped for cooking for a large group. The frying pans were in very poor condition, and several basic kitchen items were missing, including a whisk and oven-safe trays or pans. Much of the cookware and kitchen equipment that was available was also of lower quality than we expected. There were also several maintenance issues. The freezer drawer would not open, the ice maker did not work, and the water pressure was very poor. The outdoor equipment was another disappointment. Canoes were available, but

I found the proximity of Airbnb location to the small St. Germain downtown to be convenient for last minute needs. The cabins were quaint and charming and the waterfront/beach was adequate, though little area to swim right near the cabin due to weeds. Cardinal cabin could've used a deep clean, dog hair on furniture and floors, inside drawers and cabinets were pretty grungy. The biggest problem for our group was the 8 AM check out time. The language surrounding early check in and late check out is very severe, providing rationale that there are high standards of cleaning and inspection, which we did not find to be entirely true. 8 AM is earlier than most Airbnb check outs and charging $50 for every 15 minutes past check out, given the already somewhat high price, seems unreasonable. They were very clear with expectations and communication on this matter, but I still found that to be the worst part of our stay.

Had a great week @ Otter Cove. The house was bigger than it appeared in the photos. Plenty of space for our large group of 10. Kitchen was fully stocked aside from any oil or spices. We loved the fire pit, large deck & comfortable beds. House was very clean (outside had lots of cobwebs, etc) but inside was clean. Only complaint is they don’t provide enough essentials like paper towels, TP or garbage bags.

The house was very clean and spacious. We loved the view and river location. The spacious deck was utilized! The neighbors had shouting matches across the river and others right next door to us. That is NOT the house's fault. There wasn't real air conditioning- 2 stand up ones with no vents to release the heat only made the house hotter- 86 degrees at one point. No king bed, ceiling fan without blades? Misleading photos and published statements.

Great house with a great view of the lake. Was nice to have a dock, and the first Airbnb to supply firewood, which was a huge unexpected plus. Would definitely book again. Only reason for 4-star is we didn't anticipate an 8am checkout, which is by far the earliest I've ever seen, usually its 10-11am. Didn't have time to cook breakfast, just had to pack up clean and go. Flexibility on check-in/check-out was non existent, I believe it was $50 per 15 minutes

Unnecessarily overpriced for a cabin with no attractions around. Non existent yard for cabin this size.

We had a very relaxing stay. The cabin is well laid out and there's enough woods around, that we didn't see neighbors. The beds and furniture are comfortable and the patio doors right to the deck are great for easy access and provide views of the trees and water. More information about the rental would have been nice. The outdoor garbage bins are at the road in a little shed, but nothing told us that. I had to message Hiller to find out. There are 2 bins, one was already full. Also, if you want to kayak I would bring your own. The one provided looked like it's made of Styrofoam, more of a kids kayak than adult. Again, information on where to find a paddle would have been nice, but I didn't use the kayak. We did have great luck fishing, all thrown back in, so more fun for the next group.

House and deck is in need of maintenance. Beautiful deck but is all peeling and needs to be refinished. Floors were dirty. If you walked bare foot they would be covered in dirt. No towels provided, did not find this out till after booking. Not in the description. No soap in the bathrooms, dead batteries in remote in the bedroom. Ants in the house. Spiders in the basement. Garage was filthy. Overall not well taken care of. Should be much better for the price at $500 a night. 4;00 pm check in which is somewhat common but the 8:00am checkout is not normal. They said you could request a late check out the day before which I did with no response. Could be a great place to stay with some work and some adjustments. Overall not a great experience.

Title: Fine for a Short Stay, Better in Summer The place was fine for a brief winter stay and would likely be much nicer in summer given the location. The house is newer with builder-grade finishes—adequate for short-term use. Before booking, note the following: 8:00 a.m. check-out, with exceptions by request (we received one). Owner required off-platform communication after booking to get the door code, which made us uneasy, though Airbnb later said it was acceptable. No towels provided (washer/dryer on site; we brought our own). Heating is not ideal for winter—room-by-room, and some areas (including the living room) never fully warmed up.
