Gearhart By The Sea

“The second you step foot into Gearhart by the Sea you are overwhelmed by the smell — the maximum amount of mustiness. It was the equivalent of sleeping in my grandmother’s attic. Even with all windows open and fans running, it was horrible. If you have allergies, a lung condition, children at risk, or anything similar — do not stay here! Further, several towels were dirty upon arrival, some even with blood stains. The shower did not drain during use. Also, the company that rents outs the condo requires you to sign additional paperwork beyond the airBnB agreement. While this is generally fine, they have broken airBnB’s policy by not explicitly stating in the posting description that they will ask you to do this. When I called to ask about this, they had no idea it was a policy breach. Overall, I do not recommend. A sketchy establishment in vast need of deep cleaning, amenity updates, and changes in order to meet the policy of the booking site they chose to utilize. :(”

“The place was amazing, however, we had to wait over an hour past our checkin time because it was not cleaned and staff said they could not offer any type of discount or compensation for the delay.”

“We really love it...the house was a bit dated ....They also wanted us to empty the dishwasher when we arrived and it was totally full....This is something the housekeepers need to do...I have never been asked to do this and i have stayed at tons of airbnbs...The coffee pot and tea pots didn't seem clean and needed updating....With all of that being said.....You can not beat the view of the ocean....We sat out on the balcony until dark just talking and looking at the ocean...”

“We found this place at the last minute for Labor day weekend and it's in a spot that we've stayed before, which we love, so we were happy to grab this place. It has enough amenities that if there is one thing missing, there are other things to make do with. We were comfortable enough staying here but there were a couple things that needed to be fixed - the dryer didn't work and the bathroom door in the bedroom closed but didn't latch. And as a personal preference, there is not a lot of counter space in that bathroom for your personal belongings. For last minute, it was a nice place to stay.”

“The place was very nice and clean but I just wasn't happy with the lack of communication. I requested an early check in that was approved but later found out it was approved by accident. Then I check in and was given a code to get inside and the pad was offline so I had to get a key to get inside. After that, I signed a rental agreement on paper inside the office and later got a message that I need to sign the agreement online and they dont allow paper agreements. I messaged back I signed everything and they tell me I'm good. I just felt like the communication was off for this trip but the office staff were very friendly, the place was very clean, quiet, and there was a very beautiful view!”

“We thought our apartment was cute and the location was pretty. A short walk out to the sandy beaches was nice! However our room was really dirty upon checkin. There was a cigarette wrapper inside on the coffee table and 4 wrappers out on the balcony rug also. And the bathroom shower had multiple hairs inside it and on the outside ledge. Very disappointed in the cleanliness of our room overall.”

“I would not recommend staying at this property. While the space initially appeared clean upon arrival, it quickly became clear that it had not been properly maintained. The bedding contained visible debris and dog hair. After contacting the host, we were told cleaning would be addressed the following day; however, only one set of sheets was changed and no additional cleaning was completed. The overall condition of the home was unacceptable. There was dog hair throughout the property, including on the furniture, floors that had not been vacuumed, dirty dishes in the kitchen, and moldy sponges left by the sink. Most concerning, my 3-year-old found a pill on the floor, which presents a serious safety hazard—especially for families traveling with young children. Due to last-minute booking constraints and traveling with multiple children, we were unable to relocate, but this was a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience.
