Black Hammock Getaway

“This place is a beautiful accommodation. It is the second time we have stayed here because of the number of private rooms and bathrooms. We have stayed at numerous AirBnBs over the years. There are usually so many extras, like family games, baby accomodations, books and maybe spices in the cabinet. Most places offer an unexpected surprise like local ice cream in the freezer or chocolates on the pillow, special coffee pods or a tea assortment. It makes you feel welcome. This place provides the bare minimum. Fortunately I knew what to expect. It is advertised as a house for 12. There are 7 coffee mugs, 3 drinking glasses, a few wine glasses. You get the drift. We had to bring our own glasses. You get 1 extra trash bag, one cascade tablet, 2 oz of dish soap etc. Many of us flew in. Then you have to go to the grocery to buy boxes or bags of all the items when you only need a few more. This is a great gathering place for family. Just build some shopping time in your vacation.”

“We had a pleasant stay. The location was convenient for everything we needed to do, and we really enjoyed visiting Black Hammock Restaurant & Bar, which was a fun place to go for food and drinks. Overall, the location worked well for our visit and we appreciated the convenience.”

“Booked this place last minute after issues with another Airbnb and grateful to find a place during graduation weekend. Home was spacious, neighborhood quiet, easy check-in, and hosts allowed early check-in for an additional fee, which surprised us since we’ve never been charged for before when a place was already ready. Yard could use some upkeep, we noticed some cleanliness issues with the stove, bathtub, and floors. The bathroom faucets also sprayed all over. Nearby road construction caused a minor detour, just more annoying. Main challenge was communication. Hosts were friendly, responses were slow, especially during important moments, and there was confusion about check-in readiness. Trying to extend was also difficult, we waited several hours for a response during active convo, and home got booked by someone else. No response until the following morning (over 12hrs). Home did meet our needs, and it’s a nice place to stay but communication definitely an opportunity.”

“Joel's Gator Nest was like borrowing your Great Uncle's fishing cabin that has not been updated since 1985 and not lived in for years. Utter lack of amenities, household supplies, broom, cleaning items, pantry items (not even salt or pepper), no ice or water in fridge (doesn't work), stove partially working, Cabinet doors stuck shut with gunk with nothing inside. The house needs a week long deep clean and a complete remodel. The floors are sticky and dirty. The house is a mishmash of multiple add-ons and half-ass repair jobs. There are no rugs in the house to cover the tile floors; blinds are broken or removed. There are 3 different smells in the house depending on which room you're in. Not sure what is septic, well water or mold/mildew smells. The furniture at best is from Salvation Army. There is NOTHING IN THIS HOUSE THAT IS NEW OR CLEAN. This house should not be allowed to be rented to anyone expecting a reasonable, clean and safe home. WORST RENTAL HOME I HAVE EVER SEEN.”
