Anchors Away Vacation Rentals

Anchors Away Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.79 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“My family stayed at this rental property for 3 nights and one of the big deciding factors when booking a house, was the pool. The house was great but we had a terrible experience in regards to the pool. We were given access to the house around 3:45pm and were communicated the pool technician would finish up soon after. The pool guy left without cleaning the pool of debris and also left the hose turned on. There was slight interaction with him and a family member and his character was questionable. Definitely not a person who seemed professional. The pool would have overflowed if we had not contacted Anchors Away. We lost an entire day without access to the pool as they sent a technician until a day later. Also, something I did not mention to them, were the shards of glass that were around the perimeter of the pool. If see an option to add the photos on here I will. I mention this here now in hopes they will have this fixed immediately as someone or their pet could get hurt.”airbnb

“Perfect getaway for a family of three. Great home base for river and ocean explorations. Close access to pedestrian entry to Jenner Preserve. We loved the board games after a long day of hiking, and the daybed for reading (especially with the fire on). Unbeatable views from living room and deck. Lots of bird watching too. Highly recommend!”airbnb

“I really liked this place! There was a few things that could have been better. The light in the bedroom didn't work, the led candles all didn't work, the motion light (outside on the side of the house) flashed all night brightly, there were cobwebs around some of the decor and I killed about 4 big spiders while there. I let the host know as I was leaving and they were very apologetic. I'm sure they will address these things because it seems they really care about their properties. Overall they were minor inconveniences and I really enjoyed the place. Beautiful view and easy access to everything. I'd definitely return to this property!”airbnb

“The Birdie House's main floor living area is very nice. The views out the back are fabulous. However we found the downstairs bedroom to be unusable. The air in the room was musty and mildew smelling, causing health concerns. The downstairs bedroom is a basement. Upon contacting Bodega Bay and Beyond a housekeeper came and activated the dehumidifiers that were present in the room. The odor was not eliminated. We revisited Bodega Bay and Beyond. The gentleman in the office was less than helpful. He offered to send a plumber to deal with musty and mildewy smells. A plumber?? I asked about relocation or compensation. It fell on deaf ears. The situation we were put in was "deal" or leave. We closed off the downstairs. Some of our party slept in the living room. Not what we paid for. We will be seeking compensation. We have booked with this agency before very doubtful we will return. George D. May 10 2026”airbnb

“This is a review mainly of the property manager not the property. Property was clean and nice but there is a musty smell which I attribute to the fact that the house has no vents built into subarea which causes a musty smell. The property manager was unprofessional. Did not check the fireplace flue and left no instructions on how to check it, that it must be checked or how to even tell if it was open or not. Lit a log and the whole place filled up with smoke. House smelled badly of smoke entire stay. Fire Dept came. It was not “user error” but lack of instructions. Flue handle apparently was high up and hard to reach. Manager Chris is rude and immature. He has many bad reviews on Yelp and it’s bewildering why any property owner would use him given my experience with him and apparently the same experience of others- evidenced by his overwhelming bad reviews on Yelp. Owners should refund a guest when their entire stay entails being trapped in a smoky house. It’s the right thing to do.”airbnb

“The house was generally fine minus two glaring issues we ran into. King bed was atrocious. We provided the managers a chance to investigate and take ownership, but instead they discredited the feedback. Two nights of terrible sleep and high nightly fees don’t pair well with us. Also experienced heavy ant activity in kitchen and common areas. Between these two, the finer elements of the rental weren’t felt. I sure hope they address both for future guests as we were disappointed.”airbnb

“PHOTOS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. No water view whatsoever. Ownership doesn’t want to post updated ones in an effort to swindle people into massively overpaying. Hiding a couple nondescript lines on a vague “construction” in the listing made us feel taken advantage of. Over half the photos in the listing are substantially inaccurate. Booked what we thought was a cozy cottage with water views for our anniversary and instead stared at the side of an unfinished house all weekend. Hope they post updated photos and let people make fully informed decisions in the future.”airbnb
