“We had a nice stay at Dwayne’s place. It was perfect size for my husband, myself and our two dogs. It was very clean however the bath towels could use some updating as they smelled very musty. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and creaky which is noted in other reviews as well but has not been updated. The property is conveniently located about 30 min from Bar Harbor and 10 min from Southwest harbor. We would definitely stay here again if updates noted above were made.”airbnb

“A lovely and comfortable place in a great location. But there were drawbacks. 1. The gas grill outside not only didn't work but leaked gas. This hadn't been fixed even though a prior guest had complained. 2. The broiler in the oven didn't turn on. 3. The kitchen was poorly equipped: very few glasses, one dish towel, etc. 4. Toilet paper soon ran short.”airbnb

“If you're looking for a getaway spot in Acadia, the location is great. The house sits by itself and it's really peaceful, about 30 minutes from Cadillac Summit. Unfortunately, our stay wasn't as pleasant as we hoped. Most of the issues seemed technical, and I'm hopeful the host gets them fixed, because this place could be great. The upstairs AC was leaking a lot of water. We tried reaching the host that night but didn't hear back until the next day. We didn't feel comfortable staying, so we cut our trip to one night instead of two. The kitchen lights flicker constantly. The shower curtain rod in the upstairs bathroom wasn't secured and almost fell on us. The toilet bowls have stains, and so does the bed skirt in the attic room, which also only has one outlet. The internet wasn't working at all and cell service is spotty, so we had no way to get online. The bones of this place are great and the location is hard to beat. With some repairs and a deeper clean, it would be a solid stay.”airbnb

“This house was spacious enough to fit multiple families and you could not beat the area and proximity to popular Acadia attractions. However, there was not enough bedding for every bed, leaving one of my sons sleeping without sheets and only a blanket one night. When sheets were dropped off, only sheets were brought, no comforter. In addition, the kitchen was not adequately stocked for cooking full meals, there were no outside chairs around the fire pit as shown in the pictures, and we had to purchase paper towels. It also took multiple attempts reaching out to the hosts over 24 hours about fixing the issue with lack of sheets. For what we paid, we didn’t feel like you got the best bang for your buck.”airbnb

“Didn't end up staying here and they refuse to refund me. Walked into the home and had a musty smell, kitchen was streaky and no clean looked like it was quickly cleaned. Photos on the listing did not match the house itself, definitely older photos. Paint was chipping on the deck and doorframes. Grounds were not kept at all, and there was no fenced in yard. Host declined a refund, and left me on read.”airbnb

“The home is in a wonderful location, but unfortunately, the property needs maintenance. When we had an issue, it took the hosts considerable time to respond. The home became very hot and humid due to an AC issue, making our stay extremely uncomfortable. Opening the windows was not an option because the screens were damaged, had holes, or missing. While the location was great, the slow response from the hosts significantly impacted our stay.”airbnb

“The location was excellent and was the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the condition of the home did not match the listing or the price we paid. We encountered numerous maintenance, cleanliness, and safety issues, including large holes in the screened porch, a ceiling fan missing a blade in the kids' bedroom, an unstable kitchen table, bathroom repairs that had not been addressed, dog poop in the yard upon arrival, and candy left in the washing machine. We also reported heavy furnace exhaust fumes entering the lower bedroom during our stay, but the issue was never inspected or resolved. One of our children also discovered an adult toy and lubricant left in a dresser drawer, which was completely unacceptable in a family rental. With better maintenance, cleaning, and follow-through on reported concerns, this property could provide a much better experience.”airbnb

“The Deer Nest was a great spot and location and the house itself is a picture perfect place. If you have a good attitude and treat it like camping it'll be great. However, as a true house review for the value what I paid, it's not worth it. No outside lights worked and quite a few inside lights were out and needed replacing. The rugs and blankets are overly worn and dirty. The towels were crunchy and stale. Yes they made cute shapes with the towels on your bed, but I'd prefer soft towels over a shape. The toilets and showers were stained and haven't been cleaned. The showers were cold and randomly one of us got a hot shower. We had to reassemble the fire pit because whoever stayed before us started to take apart the bricks and stone platform and tossed them into the woods. There was a screened in porch area, but the screen is all ripped. It's a beautiful place, but I would hire a better property manager. We'll stay somewhere else next time , but thank you for the stay.”airbnb

“The Airbnb host Dwayne double booked our reservation, despite the other family already being accommodated there. When we contacted him regarding the issue, he was unresponsive, ignoring our calls and messages on the Airbnb app. Without any prior notice or explanation, our reservation was canceled after we notified the hosts of the double booking, and they did not assist us in finding alternative accommodation for the night. This situation caused us significant stress as we had to urgently locate lodging for 9 people and an infant during the extremely busy 4th of July weekend. We felt stranded, unable to enjoy the peaceful family weekend we had anticipated, and left with nowhere to stay to celebrate and relax with our families.”airbnb

“I had to check out early because of poor water quality. The water turned my skin, fingernails and clothes orange. This must be an ongoing problem due to the orange stains in the shower floor and bath fixtures. A quick Internet search of well water in his area indicated high mineral well water could have radon as well. I considered this unacceptable. Owner refused any credit on my reservation.”airbnb
