4RentUs's guest rating of 4.55 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“We had a pleasant stay at this Airbnb by the lake. The location was lovely, and being close to the water added a peaceful, relaxing touch to our visit. The accommodations were comfortable enough for a short getaway, although there were a few areas that could use some improvement. Overall, it was a decent place to stay, and we appreciated the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful lakeside setting.”airbnb

“Thoughts on this: The property itself was disappointing, especially considering the price we paid. The photos on Airbnb did not accurately reflect the property, which set expectations that were not met upon arrival. There is a fire pit and grill, but there was no propane provided, and guests are required to pay to refill the tanks—even though you don’t get to keep the tank afterward. The information that propane is not included is also buried in the fine print, and we had to specifically ask the host where this information was disclosed. The countertops and floors were not particularly clean when we arrived. One of the beds did not have sheets on it, although the host did correct this issue quickly. Overall, while some of these issues were addressed, the property was simply not worth the amount of money we paid. At this price point, we expected a much cleaner property, better attention to detail, and a more accurate representation of the accommodations.”airbnb

“Great space. Plenty of rooms and bed accomodations. Great family style table and living area. Both inside and outside could use a good deep cleaning.”airbnb

“The place did have adequate beds and facilities for our group. However, they were obviously maximizing the number of people by having tall loft beds- even the “regular” beds (other than trundles, futons and bunks) were too high and raised for a bunch of retired folks and those getting close to it. The outdoor equipment was not in the best of shape— pool was empty, full of debris and had machinery sitting in it. The lake water had a lot of lily pads and a dock that needed some refurbishing. I was required to sign a detailed contract and pay a security deposit on an app before they would even give us the door code to get in. Our group enjoyed our time together, but paying for day guests and the extra fees will make me choose something different in the future.”airbnb

“They will nickel and dime you, and if you put a security deposit down believe me they will just make stuff up. If you’re check out is an hour late is a 100 dollar fee. Kitchen was dirty and the trash from the last guest was still there. All beds and stained there are no pillow cases and beds are covered in crumbs. This house is not serviced. Trust me you will NOT get your security deposit they will make up things when they are literally not cleaning the house before you get there.”airbnb

“Place was nice and had everything we needed… however I would not recommend dealing with this host. They have a hidden deposit fee that isn’t apparent anywhere in the listing. They hide it somewhere in the house rules as they know nobody really checks that before booking and they don’t return it until 2-3 weeks after checkout. Secondly, they have labels literally everywhere in the house that makes it feel more like an institution for kids than a house for guests. They look for any reason to nickel and dime you. Thirdly, I paid extra for s’mores. The host charged me but didn’t even bother letting me know where they left the s’mores kit or give me instructions on how to use the campfire. In fact I didn’t even notice they left the s’mores kit somewhere until check out. Not a good quality host. If you need a lake house, I would recommend elsewhere.”airbnb

“The cabin was pristine and well stocked. Beds are comfortable. Area is quiet. The lock didn’t work when we arrived and we had to wait for someone to let us in. The issue wasn’t fixed, meaning we couldn’t leave or lock the door- but the owner COULD get in with his key! Fun! Bathroom door came off the tracks and I got to hang out in there for 20 min, too! The owner showed us the “private” hot tub when let us in. It is in the open, at the end of a road… just feet outside the sliding glass doors of the home the owner came from to unlock the door. We were deeply uncomfortable with the set up and didn’t use the tub- the reason we chose this listing. The photos for the listing are not specific to this property. Owners push for off platform communication, signatures, and payment. Multi-page “renter guide” is incomprehensible. Weird stickers all over the house with Bible references on them??? Pre-stay communication had me convinced I was going to be scammed, but the house is real.”airbnb

“This was our first time using Airbnb, and unfortunately, it will likely be our last. My husband chose this place for a surprise birthday trip, specifically because of the advertised hot tub. Upon arrival, we were immediately disappointed. The house wasn’t very clean—both the kitchen and bathroom counters had visible debris, and I had to clean them with Clorox cleaner before feeling comfortable using them. The hot tub was falling apart and unusable, which was one of the main reasons we booked. To make things worse, we discovered after check-in that there are hefty fees if the “noise detectors” go off, making us feel like we had to whisper the entire time. We felt like we wasted $175 and the long drive there. After debating, we were too tired to leave and drive almost 3 hours back home. This experience didn’t meet our expectations, and we wouldn’t recommend this property to others.”airbnb

“Regarding our stay at our Airbnb yesterday. There were a few issues. The host ok’d us to check in after 12 pm, when we arrived the property manager was in the garage going thru boxes and told us to go in. The house temperature was set at 58 degrees ( in a snow storm in Michigan), the house was extremely dirty ( carpets, walls, baseboards, sinks, rails etc). It was like walking in a frat house. The smell was disgusting. There was an odor machine running in one of the bedrooms which made that room smell of bleach. There was used coffe cups just put away in the cupboards. After notifying the home owner of our arrival and the issues we had, he then sounded like he intended on charging us for an early arrival. Which it was him who initiated the after 12 pm check in. He did off to send someone to “spruce things up” but it his house needs more of a serious deep clean the spruce up. He then started to pressure me into “accepting “ the property, stating I was satisfied with the status of the”airbnb
